    Hi Girlies!

sorry if this might be TMI but I was wondering how long people tend to have AF to stay?

My last one was only 2 days and the second day was so light that 1 mini tampon lasted all day and wasn't even half full!

oh and before anyone says - I know your not supposed to leave it in longer that 8 hours :o but it seems like such a waste of money and I hate using towels.

I'm just wondering if that's normal or if my periods still haven't come back properly (just had my 4th AF after coming off the pill).

Mine used to be 7 days. The last one was 2 days. And I know what you mean about tampon being there for longer than 8 hours - if it is not filled up enough, I can't even remove it!!! So, it has to stay longer sometimes... That usually towards the end of AF...

  • My IVF clinic will not carry out IVF for a woman with a BMI of over 35 - I know other local clinics who will only carry it out for a BMI of 30. This is because from their point of view it is more likely to work - for me a BMI of 35 is about size 18.

    Hiya,

My clinic is the same - but their 'guideline' is BMI of 35. I am a bit fat, but I am also quite muscular. My BMI at the moment is 37/38.

I couldn't get below 37 before the IVF last year, but I was told I'd have to meet the anaesthetist and if she said it was OK they would go ahead. She had no problem - I had to fill in a detailed medical questionnaire and she said it is dodgy is if you carry a lot of fat around your neck, as they can have a problem with keeping your airway open whilst you are out. I don't have this - my fat is mostly around my tummy & thighs, so I was OK.

I've put on a bit more weight again now though, so if the FET hasn't worked I guess it'll be a mad diet again to drop a bit before they let me have another go!

Shelly: I tried looking on the clearblue website for that trial and couldn't find it, I guess i'm way too late huh? When the next one comes round would you let me know, and I'll see if I can work it out :)

Hi. I called them last week to see if they wanted more women but they had over 1000 women register so have pulled the offer as they have enough.
If I know when the next one is I'll let you know for sure. Might be worth checking the site every so often incase i don't hear about it what with being on this one.

For quite sometime now my proper AF has only been here for 2 days** but I do have spotting and dirty brown stuff for a couple of days either side of AF. So usually I'm out of BDing action for about a week.

**Feels much longer than this though :rotfl:

  • Early assessment Scan in my area is £95.00 - thats essex by the way. They have confirmed on appiontment of 14th Sept when I will be 9 weeks 6 days. I am tempted to re-arrange for the week earlier but not sure. Just not sure how much you would see that early.

God, I so envy you having a proper anaesthetic! Conscious sedation wasn't worth the hassle in my experience. Next time I will insist on better!!

    How are you feeling now?

Hello liloandstich, welcome to the thread!

It sounds like you will have more knowledge to pass on than gain, but out of interest have you tried BBT charting etc.

This is the route that I am starting to go down and just wondering what you thought of it.

    Waddyxx

Hi, thanks for the welcome!! I did chart for a while, and established that I was regularly ovulating and that reassured me - although I am thinking of doing it again just to re-check. I think the more you understand your body, the more it helps you in some ways. I have found though that you can get too involved in it all, and I have put DH under enormous pressure at times to perform as I thought that if we did it at exactly the right time we would get pregnant!!! I try to be as laid back as possible, but that is not easy when you are a control freak like me.
