This is going to be the first month of trying after being off the pill for 7 months. Not due to ovulate until tomorrow/Weds. Hubby and I did the deed on Sat night, just to be together and not to baby make. Woke in morning to go to the loo and loads of his population paste came out. We have always used condoms to this was a not quite pleasant novelty!
Anyhow, on Sunday, the day after doing the deed, I have felt niggling aches all day in my nether regions. Today has been the same. Plus feel slightly nauseous.Early signs of pregancy state these sysmptoms - but surely not so soon??? Half a day after possible conception???
I do realise that you can get pregnant not just around the time of ovulation but am I being realistic? Could I “know” so soon? Could I really be having symptoms so soon? Maybe I am just being ridiculous (or wishful thinking) or the aches are an allergic reaction from husband’s sperm!
Did anyone out there have symptoms this quickly?
I really don't think you would have any symptoms so soon. Even if you got pregnant on Sat night implantation doesn't happen until 6-11 days after conception. I think once implantation occurs you might have symptoms then but IMO even thats too early to get symptoms.
Someone posted previously on this thread that she was told that usually the first symptom any woman would get of pregnancy is missing a period.
Its also been said before by myself and other posters on this thread that you should try not to symptom spot. Its very easy to drive yourself mad by symptom spotting:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Depressing as it is Icklebeans, I have to agree with Shelly - symptom spotting is a misery-inducing pastime (I should know, I do it myself)!
I'm trying not to second guess at the moment, but I had some light spotting at the weekend, which is very unusual for me. I thought AF had arrived (as I said before I felt like I had pmt, and this would have fitted with when I think I OV'd), but then nothing has happened.
I did a test this morning, but it was negative, so I'm kinda in limbo. Maybe it was too soon to test.0 -
Agree with all on the symptom spotting. Haven to say it isn't like me to do something like that it was more a case of the feelings were immensely coincidental with doing the deed which made me look up the early signs of pregnancy as I couldn't quite believe you could know so soon. I looked up the below and maybe got carried away, esp as it is says some symptoms are within days...

...and there is the waiting. I can understand what you are all going through now with the 2 week wait. But, as I am supposed to be ovulating right now, some more baby dancing is on the horizon... ;-pProud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -

You can only get pregnant around the time of ovulation. The egg survives no more than 24 hours. The reason pregnancy can result from intercourse "at any time of month" is that unless you are charting/using predictors you don't know in advance when you will ovulate or when you have ovulated and sperm can survive up to 5 days (in fertile CM). Given you can release a second egg within 24 hours of first there are only about 7 days per cycle that intercourse can result in pregnancy (5 before ov and 2 after).
Also before implantation (at least 5 days after ovulation & fertilization) there is no reason biologically for there to be any symptoms, as essentially just a bunch of cells travelling through body.
Some people experience ovulation pain, could it be that?
I think the first month is particularly tough for symptom spotting.0 -
TMI alert, we just BD'd so im clamping those pelvic floor muscles for britain LOL0

Hello,Ive never visited here before. Im 27,married(He's 31) have 2 children already (ages 10 and 5) and have finally decided I would like another baby. I ve been unsure for a year or so now but ive finally decided I do want a 3rd child (would be husbands 2nd) The main factor in me being unsure at first was work..my youngest started full time school last September and I got myself a part time job. Its not the best job in the world and it only pays min wage but it's a job,gets me out the house and I enjoy it..can't imagine having to leave it now..but Ive realised I can try stay working as far up to 40weeks as possible so Id get longer at home with baby before returning to work..then maybe dropping my hours to just weekend hours could be a possibility (at the mo I work tues,wed,sat,sun)
Another factor was weight. I know it sounds selfish,but Ive recently lost 2stone,over a year and can't bear the thought of letting myself go again! My way round this would be to keep count of the calories and just do light exercise instead of the 3mile runs I like to do.
Im waffling,sorry lol...anyway..we are hopefully having an extension built v.soon,as at the mo don't have enough space in the house for an extra body and are going to go to Disney World Florida in May so will start trying after then :T Or do I want to start trying asap?! :rolleyes: (not on the pill) Will keep reading this thread though in the meantime...what do all the abbreviations mean though please? Is there anything I should be doing at this v.v.vearly stage of planning?
Helen xlove my little man he is amazing :j0 -
Hi Helen and welcome to the thread.
I guess only you and OH know whether you should start trying now or later. One the one hand, you could fall immediately but on the other you could (god forbid) have problems. Its something that you can't know until you start trying again.
I think you are doing all you can to prepare for your next pg as you are taking care of yourself health wise. Only thing I would advise is getting onto folic acid. You should take this at least 3 months before you plan to concieve.
Here's the abbreviations we use......
2ww = 2 week wait (between ov and af)
AF = Aunt Flo (Period)
BBT = Basal Body Temperature
BD = "baby dancing"
BFN = Big Fat Negative
BFP = Big Fat Positive (pregnancy test)
CD = cycle day (1st day of AF is the start of a new cycle and is CD1)
CM = Cervical Mucus
CP = Cervical Position (high means ovulation is imminent)
DPO = days past ovulation
EWCM = Egg White Cervical Mucus (The consistency that will stetch between your fingers - ew!)
FSH = follicle stimulating hormone (starts building up during AF to cause follicles to grow on the ovaries and develop eggs)
HPT = home pregnancy test
LH = luteinising hormone (causes the ripest egg to burst out of the follicle - it is a surge in this hormone that ovulation predictors look for, as LH peaks about 12-18hrs before ov)
LP = luteal phase
m/c = miscarriage = loss of a baby in the 1st or 2nd trimester of pg
OPK = ovulation predictor kit
ov = ovulation - the moment the egg (ovum) is released
pg = pregnant
POAS = pee on a stick
tcoyf = "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility", a book by Toni Weschler that's generally considered to be the "TTC Bible". In it, she describes how to track your fertility by temp'ing, checking for EWCM and Cervical Position. See http://www.ovusoft.com/
TTC = Trying to conceive
HTH and good luck!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Kathy, if AF started yesterday during the day, today is CD1. CD1 is the day you wake up in full flow, if AF started at any time during the day/evening then the next day is the first day of a cycle.
Sorry if you knew this and it's what you meant, but some people seem to be confused as to what is the first day, and if one needs to monitor cycle length/luteal phase etc then it is crucial to get it right.0 -
anyone else having a bad 'i really want a baby' day or is it just me? :eek:
this 2ww is really killing me, particularly since i spent my lunch hour looking up symptoms on the web
so much for leaving it to nature :rolleyes:0
