I know babies arent' money savers but I worked it out I would save around £45 if no periods for 9 months! (to keep this thread about money saving
I worked out that I could feed and clothe a baby until primary school by not being able to drink for 9 months, if OH gave up too we could have triplets.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

I did do the cushion thing and loo roll and I was dying for a pee but held off for about 40 minutes - was this a good first attempt? (can't believe I am typing this, but no one knows me heehee).
IMO If you know roughly when you ov then you only need do the cushion thing around ov time. If you have no idea then it can't hurt to do this every time.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi all.
I was looking for a bit of advice.
Me and my OH are thinking of trying to conceive in the near future and I was wondering about what sort of things you discussed with your OH before you started trying?
We both would like a child, its more an issue of when. And i know if i was pregnant we would be delighted and sort everything out as it comes to it but I'd like to discuss some issues, sort of pre=plan, before it happens.
I'm not sure if we're going to actively try, more like stop trying not to get pregnant if you get me although i'm sure i'l soon fall in to the motion of trying to conceive
Thanks for any advice0 -
Well, all weekend I have been having baby and pregnancy dreams!! One night I woke up having just dreamt that I had done a test and the 2 lines were showing clear s day! The next night I had a beautiful baby boy who I was carrying around everywhere. Then last night again I dreamt I had just found out I was pregnant!
I think maybe I need to try and concentrate on something else to take my mind of TTC as it appears to be taking over somewhat!0 -
Well fellow bd'ers, got myself sorted with a basal thermometer and have started charting now...
We have had a 'busy' weekend doing the deed....so much so that I'm almost sure that we may have overdone it slightlyBut I've not been able to help myself as I have been feeling sooooooo frisky!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else found that their drive has increased naturally since stopping their contraception?
We are off for a weeks camping next week so I think my hubbie will have to gag me or something so that the 'neighbours' don't hear us at it

vk 2008 I don't think it's '' bad luck'' to buy beforehand, no.
If it never happens then it's going to have been a bad idea to spend so much money but I don't think buying before it happens is going to alter the outcome.
This is why I am saving instead, even though it would be nice to go out and spend some I don't want to waste my money, but I'm at an age where my chances are slimmer anyway, you might not be.
I know people who have spent a fortune long beforehand and by the time they had the baby they had everyhting they could ever need so took that bit pressure off them.
If it doesn't happen for me then at least we could spend the money on something else.£200 saved for baby things :T0 -
Shelly, if it's the white sticky time then i'm about 2 weeks away.
First time, we're kind of in the same boat as you. For pre planning we are decorating the whole house at present, and saving. What more pre-planning can really be done? I think if you do fall pregnant it's going to be less stressful knowing all those nigly things are done and dusted, any unfinished jobs will play on my mind I know this, and I would just want to know that everything we needed doing was done already.
Just adding, I wouldn't be decorating no nurseries though. My husband is occupying that room anyway so that would be all is job but not untill a good few months in anyway, plus that will give him somehting to focus on that is positive, he'll feel like he's done his bit then£200 saved for baby things :T0 -
Apologies for my 3 posts in a row! But just been thinking about how tempting it is to go out and buy things in advance, well we could buy things that we could also use, like baby oil for instance, and cotton wool that sort of thing.
Even for me, baby blankets wouldn't be a waste as I could always pop them in the cat basket if it ever came to it - so although it might be a bit sad if it never happened, and you could cope with having things in a cupboard, not everything you could buy would go to waste.£200 saved for baby things :T0 -

Sorry, can't help with CM signs as I don't get CM anymore but I'm sure someone else will be along to advise you what you need to look out for/be seeing to know when ov is imminent.
On the subject of buying baby things before getting the BFP, each to their own but we have only bought one thing and thats a Tigger baby gym a) because I love Tigger& b) because it was very cheap in the Argos sale. The only time hubby will go into a baby shop is if we are buying gifts for friends babies. We did briefly look at cots and buggies when I got my first BFP but didn't buy anything. At second BFP we didn't look at things at all.
I am glad that we don't have a cupboard full of things to remind us of our failure
I do as Supergirl does, save the money instead in my ISA. I have been doing that for the 4 years we have been TTC so if/when it does happen we won't have to worry about buying everything.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
