I'm trying to lose weight, they won't really be able to treat me with anything till I have, as the treatments are dangerous to overweight women. It just gets me down because it's twice as hard to lose weight when you have PCOS.
I've put on loads of weight in the past 6 months so really need to work on that then.If you aren't taking anything for it at the moment I suggest going to your doctor and asking about being reffered to a fertility specialist or asking to be put on Metformin as this is usually the first thing you will be prescribed anyway.
I went to my GP who referred me to the specialist at the hospital. They said to come back after a year of trying. I've only been pill free since January, and they didn't see that there is anything wrong with me yet. I was hoping that as I've got PCOS they would start helping me along now.I've lost just over a stone and a half so far. It also helps when you have a great OH to support you like mine
Well done on your weight loss so far. I hope I can do as well. If I could just lose what you've lost so far I'd feel much more confident about the whole thing.
Good Luck.

How's Kathy72? She was due on same time-ish as me, just wondered how her testing went?
Hiya Helen
Glad to hear you had a great holiday!
I tested at the end of last week as I was getting impatient but got a negative and AF has arrived today...cycle was quite a long one at 34 days but if I remember back to the days prior to Mirena I was usually 30+ days anyway...
Back to the practising hey???!!!

And that's strange about the not helping you until you've been trying for a year. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16 and I went to my Dr when I was 18 and said that me and my OH were trying for a baby (I know, some might think it's young) He reffered me to a specialist straight away and the specialist did all the blood tests at certain times in my cycle etc straight away. After a few appointments though, I decided to go back when I'd lost more weight, because that's all the dr would be able to tell me to do.Pigsback - 500 points, Happyfly - £37.92, Juicy Brains - £1.25, Valued Opinions - Zilch, Casback Rewards - £2.78

I was diagnosed at 18 (im now 25) and was going to a specialist for sometime pre-wanting a baby (they also kept saying to lose weight so I lost 3 stone and they didn't really care). They discharged me, then a short time later I decided I wanted children so thought I'd see the GP, was sent to the specialist and he says to come back in a year. AWhere's the consistancy. Maybe I'll go back and pester them. Need to lose weight again though cos I put 2 stone back on.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 19017/05/08 - Total on DMP: £10025.7007/05/14 - Total on DMP: £1666.20 DFD: July 2017!!Baby Tomos born 5th June 2009 - 6lb 5oz :jWeight Loss Target - to lose 60.8lb by NYE 2015 - 37.6lb TO GO0 -
Evening ladies,
Any advice on charting temperatures would be really appreciated, decided to give that a go this month, full of good intentions but when OH woke me up this morning to BD, taking temp was the last thing on my mind lol! O well start tomorro!
Less then four weeks to go til wedding and I'm hoping that as the stressful bits are done (registry office is finally booked!) we can relax and get back to practising.
Oh and big congrats to Popsy!
Hope everyone has had a good weekend and lots of baby dust for coming week!

I just thought I would post this on here to urge anyone who is taking any form of medication to go to wikipedia and read up on it. Even if it only states about when you're pregnant, I just hated the thought of not realising I was pregnant and doing some serious harm to my baby in the early stage of pregnancy.
Hi ScENeYmE,
I believe some antidepressants are OK to take while ttc and pregnant - and stopping abrubtly is not recommended. I am sure if your GP knew you were ttc they will have considered this, and perhaps you are on a low dose that would not be dangerous to baby, so maybe best to discuss with them or get a second opinion. Also beware of wiki - it is not peer reviewed so may not be best source of info.
My thoughts are that anyone thinking of ttc should see GP, I had great advice on my migraine medication but also advised to bring forward my smear and have a blood test for rubella antibodies (apparently vaccine doesn't always work). Advised to take paracetamol and if worse Codiene, but not NSAIDS (ibuprofen, asprin) for any pain.0 -

This the chart I use (don't be scared by the complexity, you can just use the temperature bit). The book "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler is fantastic if you want all the detail on it. For MSE's Borrow from library to save money! or there are excerts on website.

Basically remember:
Take it as soon as you wake, before BD, fidgeting, going to loo (as soon as you move around too much temp drops and reading for day will be invalid.)
Take at same time every day if possible.
If you are hungover, tired, ill, jet-lagged, stressed etc. readings can be affected, so make a note on chart.
You don't need a reading everyday but you do need at least 4/5 before ov and 3/4 after to be able to retrospectibly work out when you ov'ed. I would try and get in the habit of doing everyday for the first few cycles. As I mentioned in a previous post can't tell you when you will Ov but you will know you have ov'ed or not and then therefore more accuratley predict AF and potentailly spot if you having early miscarriages.0 -

I know that it can be unsafe to come off them suddenly, but I did actually look through the information in the packet and it did have some of the same warnings, I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow. He does know I'm TTC so I'm quite annoyed he put me on those as I was on the highest dose allowed. I've not taken them for a few days now and I feel much better mood wise, I am having a few withdrawel syptoms, but nothing I can't cope with for a bit. The Dr has known I've been TTC since the beginning (nearly 3 years ago) and he put me on the medication about 6 months ago. It just annoyed me a bit because he didn't go though the warning or anything with me. I want to thank you all for your concern and I will let you know what he says tomorrowPigsback - 500 points, Happyfly - £37.92, Juicy Brains - £1.25, Valued Opinions - Zilch, Casback Rewards - £2.78

Hello everyone! Well AF arrived today. I was expecting it in a few days, but hey ho. I sort of knew we hadn't managed it this month, as due to work OH was away most of my fertile week! However looking forward, I've not had a drink in 14 days and feel a lot better for it. And I will OV just around my birthday! (might have a glass of wine though!) I'm trying to look forward to things as work is really getting me down, as I've left my usual site. I cried buckets and was a bit over emotional! One of the girls did say to me - Just get PG and go on maternity leave then they will have to put you back here. (I think they know the plan!)
Re Hayfever. I've not had a tablet in 3 weeks, and I am fairly sure that it is the Lloyds medinose thing that is making the difference. I actually feel 99% most of the time just with the occasional sneeze.
Sceneyme - I'm glad you are going to the docs tomorrow. Having taken Anti-depressants myself a few years ago, I know it can get quite tough if you come off them, so please make sure it is right for you. I hope you don't mind me saying any of this but in actual fact your posts do seem a bit more composed recently. Not meaning that they were really bad before. Or may I'm just reading them properly! (Waddy exits before she digs herself another hole!)
Sorry, just re-read the post and it's a bit rambling. Think I need my bed!Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.
