£240 again for me, this month, please. Everything got out of hand due to my birthday and DD coming up from uni (takeaways and meals out - but a separate budget line at present).

Quick question: what do people do about a "food budget" (for home cooking) and a "meals out/takeaways budget". Do you combine the two or have one for each? I'm OK with the home cooking side, but meals out tends to go a bit mad around birthdays... Not sure which would keep me in line better.

If it's a celebration it comes from the entertainment budget - If it's because I CBA to cook or as a random indulgent 'treat' it's the normal food budget.

This also includes things like coffee out - entertainment if I'm meeting up with a friend as a social thing, food budget if I just fancy one.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I calculate mine the same as NewShadow. The main reason being, we were eating out and TAs in excess!

Speaking of which:eek: breakfast out this morning, then on to grocery shop.

    $202.60
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Kinda the same what others have said. If im out and about and grab a coffee, bite to eat, or got a take away (heaven forbid, whats that) I add to budget, but the odd planned meals out with friends etc is not counted - I suppose it depends on peoples budget.

We do the same as the others above. We don't have much 'takeaway' except the odd basic GF pizza from Mr T which I add toppings or an MnS £10 'special' - both of which come out of GC budget. Birthday, anniversary and other celebrations meals come under 'entertainment' HTH

    Yesterday was quite spendy.
I did a stock-up, basically store cupboard and some meat, at Morrys and FF = £68.69, which comes out of my 'bulk buy fund'.
Then spent £12.36 at Al*i on veggies and pack-up stuff for the week.

Had first NSD for May today :j

Hope you all have a super Tuesday

Wow, what a useful thread. I'm in! I spend a stupid amount each month on groceries and yes, I'm ashamed to say I don't plan meals and as a result throw out more food than I should, if indeed one should ever throw out any. So for me and the 5 furries, we're in for £240 this month please, and that's being generous. £1 already down today, on a Cornetto (!)

    Hi all,

First spend of the month with Muscle Foods - £55 for a 'bundle' not overly impressed, won't buy again, as I can get better quality for cheaper locally, but at least I can say I gave it a go :) apart from basics like loo roll, cat food and F&V shouldn't have to spend much this month :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130
