First shop of the month done (as classing payday to paydayas my month) yesterday, 57.90 in ald! This seemed a lot as I bought very little meat as trying to run the freezer down, made the mistake of shopping whilst feeling a little down so too many treats bought I think.
Going to have to broaden my cooking - have been eating fish a lot but some salmon made me sick the other night so have been put off. Also watched some river cottage programmes last weekend about intensive chicken farming and it has really put me off cheap chicken. One daughter doesn't eat red meat and I don't eat pork. Need to look up some veggie threads on here and get some inspiration0 -

Hello. Joining in again for May and I still have some catching up to do. 32.9% spent from 26.7% of the total days as of yesterday.
This month things will change - I'm away for a week. Leaving DH (who is away for 3 days of it) with a freezer full of food. There will be NO spends that week.
Then when I get back, I should be getting a car. No more spending money in MrT, MrW because I'm waiting for the hourly bus and its cold and wet. Should make a big difference. It also means I can cancel our delivery saver - only a couple of squid a month, but every little helps.
I think, other than the capital expense of running a car, I will end up saving money (£135 a month bus pass to do the daily 7miles to shop/gym etc) I may also get a part time job.

I'm in again this month for £275 please. Thank you so much to the people that run this thread.
Although at first glance you might think I'm not very successful at this challenge, I'm finding it very useful. It's making me mindful of everything I buy, cook and eat. I used to waste loads of food but now I'm very good at not throwing stuff away. I'm getting better at planning too.
Good luck to everyone this month and welcome to anyone joining in for the first time. It'll be worth it.Mortgage and debt free0 -
