Aw Mille sorry AF has arrived :( Hope you hospital appointment next week goes well xx

Got fingers crossed for you Newthrift! My 2WW wasn't actually as bad as I thought it was going to be- stay positive! xx

My GP phoned this morning as promised. She has received the letter from the gynaecologist regarding my PCOS. She couldn't really tell me how bad a case mine is, she just said it's all in the symptoms and the irregularity of my cycles. She is still positive that it's a good signed that I ovulated last cycle and I told her how I thought I may be due AF/BFP this weekend which she said was good too.

I asked about starting Clomid if I don't get a period and she said that I can start it any day if it doesn't arrive but I must be certain that I am not already pregnant. Gynaecologist has noted if Clomid doesn't work after 9 months then to be referred to IVF clinic.

So all in all, I'm thinking if it's a BFN at the weekend and no appearance from AF, I will start the Clomid (maybe in a couple of weeks to be on the safe side). I could keep trying naturally but if this is my best chance I think I should take it.

I'm also in two minds about whether to continue my acupuncture. My health plan only covers claims up to £350 and by the end of this week i'll have claimed £250. This only leaves me another 3 sessions to continue. She also didn't want me to start the Clomid so I don't know what to do.

Sorry for the long post! Baby dust to to all xxx

Good luck with the decision-making Clarabell, that doesn't sound like an easy call to make.

Millie - hope the appointment goes well.

Newthrift - not suprised you need a rest with all that BDing! (I'm always hoping for ovulation on a weekend, as we struggle to fit it in on weekdays!).

I wanted to ask you guys your thoughts on OPKs - I think I'm extremely regular compared to a lot of you, so hadn't really seen the point, as assume that Ovia/P-tracker can't be a million miles off when I'm 28 days +/-3 most months. Does anyone else with regular cycles find it useful? I think I'm just a bit paranoid, as was hoping it was going to be easy, and am uber-conscious of my age trying for a first child (I'm 34). OH keeps saying there's no rush, but then he's not a woman, so he doesn't really understand!

Sorry AF got you Milliebob :(

I can't speak from experience Clara but I would be in mind to keep my options as open as possible and would be considering starting clomid.

Firebird I am very regular also and used Ovia my first month of TTC, went by those dates then the next month used OPKS and found I was a few days out which does make a big difference. I haven't used OPKs every month but last month I did and i ovulated on CD18 which out of a 28 day cycle is quite late however AF arrived late because of this. I am glad I did the OPKs as I then knew to expect AF late, if I hadn't of done them I would of assumed I was pg and got my hopes up. I do like using them as I like knowing roughly when I ov. Xx

Thanks A0503, you've inspired me to take the plunge and give it a go. It must help to be BDing at the right time :rotfl: £40 for 2 months worth plus 5 spare pg tests though - expensive business!

I'm now in the If in doubt zone please newthrift - a brief visit only from AF this month...
  • Clara, I think you should consider it. I was ttc DD for 12 months and was prescribed Metformin for my PCOS. I don't remember having to wait for AF to arrive to start it but I was pg 2 weeks after starting it. Not that I found out until the January but my appointment with the gynaecologist was 12th October and working back from my official EDD I 'fell' pg 14th October or 28th October for us people that know you're 2 weeks pg when you OV.

    Sorry AF got you Millie.

Feeling frustrated here. I thought I was getting somewhere with regularity (what with the PCOS and MC) as I've been using Ovia but it looks like my cycle's all to pot this 'month'. I'm passed my fertile window and still haven't OV. Obviously 3 regular cycles was too much to ask. I may just be waiting for AF next and won't OV at all.

Firebird - sounds like it's too late now but I only ever used cheapie OPKs from Amazon - 50 for about £7 or something!! And as you're very regular they'd last you ages!

Hugs for all that need them xx

Thanks, and noted for if I'm still here in 2 months time! (hopefully not).

Thanks A0503 and Athens for your input! I am defo swaying towards Clomid, I kind of feel like if it's not to be this month, then I don't really want to 'waste' anymore time so to speak.

I've been so over the place for the last 6 months, I really feel like I want to take that step towards treatment now that I have a diagnosis. It's not a decision I will make on my own, going to have a chat to hubby tonight but I know he will want me to do what makes me happiest. It's all he ever wants and says it's been terrible seeing me so upset over the last few months.

Firebird- was it digital OPKS that you bought? You can sometimes get 2 cycles worth of CB digi dual hormone on groupon for £30 if that's what you would rather. I haven't had much luck with them (but then I'm not regular) but agree with cats on the cheapie Amazon ones xxx

Millie sorry the witch got you. What tests have you had done? Fx for some kind of answers next week x

Clara really tricky choice, and only you can know what's the right thing to do. What does your gut instinct tell you to do? Any chance you could continue the acupuncture for a few more sessions in the meantime?

Athens sorry things are a bit messed up with your cycle, although apparently most women have at least 2 annovulatory cycles a year.

Newthrift that's impressive, you deserve a rest :rotfl:

Afm, had quite a lot of cm this cycle & was hopeful that I might ov, but it seems to be in the turn now & didn't get any ewcm so probably not to be this cycle. Had a good chat last night with my acupuncturist about my progress so far - she's delighted that I'm noticing some changes with my hormones after just 4 sessions (lighter af, no pms, & more cm this cycle). I guess I am too, but I just want to ov as soon as (impatient as ever) - think I maybe need to manage my expectations a bit better. That's easier said than done though. For any of you ladies that had acupuncture, how long did it take for you to start to notice a difference?
