  • Ov tests I just got some cheap ones online, £2.50 for 20 or something like that, I got excited this morning i had negatives but they were the darkest negatives I’ve had so lh levels must be increasing, I had to do two this morning to be sure the first one was a fluke, but then I tested this evening and it’s very faint again so I’m note really sure what’s going on there. I will test again in the morning hopefully ov isn’t too far away!!

I’m honestly so pleased for you ladies! Hopefully we will all get our wish soon!

What stage do you think you will tell your workplace? Before or after your first scan? Xx

Thanks all! I'll feel more confident about it when the line is a bit darker so I'm trying not to get carried away just in case it doesn't work out. Not telling anyone offline yet - I told OH I thought I might be but that's it so far!

This month I used the One Step ovulation tests (cheap on Amazon) and then used the Clearblue digital ones to verify if I thought something looked close to positive. The CB digitals are mega pricey to be using every day (and actually I was using multiple OPK cheapies a a day - on the day of my surge, my FMU was negative but I got a blazing positive at 1 p.m).
  • Congratulations afoolandhermoney and celepie :)

Celepie said she used the One Step ovulation tests from Amazon, just to say that I'll second these, I bought them because at the price I had no qualms on using them on a daily basis, but also because I think they're accurate, the results always tied in with symptoms despite the price (but the month I caught was the month I used just one when I thought I was ov'ing to confirm my expectations, on advice to try and calm down about the whole damn thing, bit ironic really)
  • Congratulations you two!

Since we're discussing opk, I also use the one step ones, I bought on eBay and they were really cheap. I think it was a set of 50 opk and 10 pregnancy tests for under £7

I think it depends what you do as a collegue was 6 weeks in and ended up being moved for health and safety. Only found out due to sickness too

  • KatieBee - I have thought about this and when we get pregnant (PMA!) I will tell my workplace before I go for my 12 week scan. Mainly as I will need time off for the scan, incase of any complications, and so that health and safety can be considered. I don't work in a dangerous environment, although I am on my feet most of the day, so it's not the physical side of my job that would concern me. More so incase of any virus' going around that could be more dangerous to a pregnant woman, I would want them to be aware I was pregnant so they could advise me or consider it. However, I definitely won't be telling them straight away, as I will need to get my head around it first myself! Probably after a couple weeks? I'm hoping it's not long until I have to make this decision (fingers crossed!)

Celepie - how is your line looking today?

I have used ClearBlue digital sticks this month. It is the first time I have used OPKs. yes they are more expensive, however I wanted it to be as simple as possible, I definitely didn't want to be scrutinising lines (as like I said before, I'm rubbish at this!). I have noticed they are much cheaper on Amazon (I think mine were about £27 for 20, which is usually two months worth). We had also decided to use OPKs this months but not Feb and March, so I didn't mind sending a little more.

My boobs are feeling sore today and I've started to feel a 'heavy' today (the only way I can describe it! hahaha) which usually means AF is on the way. I think Ovias prediction of tomorrow is going to be quite accurate.
  • well, I told OH last night. After a very plain dinner of chicken and rice with gravy for me (he had egg fried rice but I wasn't sure I could keep that down), he sat and read a magazine. I tried to get his attention a couple of time (apparently motorcycles are much more interesting than me unless he's feeling frisky) and when he finally looked up for a second and said "what?" I said "I'm pregnant" in a very small voice and then had to repeat it.

Not the most romantic, but he had said before that he didn't want to be presented with a stick I'd pee'd on! - I still have it in a bag just in case he wants to look. He was stunned and took quite a while to take it in. A few tears too (its too late for his dad, coming up on three years since he passed away - i'm sobbing again just typing it, good job I've mostly got the office to myself til lunchtime).

Phoned the doctors this morning and have a booking in appointment with the midwife next Thursday, apparently I don't need to see the GP first to get it confirmed even though I only told receptionist that I "think" I'm pregnant. The nausea seems to have lifted a bit and I can drink some tea, though not as much as usual.

Need a bit of time for it all to sink in for both of us though before we tell folks. I'm torn between whether it would be better to have some support in case of problems and not wanting to tell people until we know its all fine (OH is terrified that something will happen to me and I'm going insane worrying that there'll be something wrong with the baby). I will probably tell work sooner rather than later - like PKK I would want them to be aware of it for any H&S things (I often do lone working in remote areas so I'm mostly worried about being out on my own if anything happens).
