I am on my second dishwasher now . It is used about 4 times a week when we have a lot of washing up to do

There are only two of us but I would not be without as I do enjoy cooking.

I hate handwashing, but that might be a hangover from ex-OH, who insisted on a very particular way of washing up.

I have a dishwasher now, and I wouldn't be without it. I cook from scratch everyday, and there's me, OH and three young kids. Our dishwasher goes on a minimum of once a day, sometimes more. I have our freezer in the garage so there's enough room in the kitchen for the dishwasher.

I don't have room for one, but my mother used them at work, and she reckoned that by the time you've pre-washed the dirty stuff, and then washed off the bits that get left behind, you might just as well do the job yourself. I live alone, so there aren't really enough pots to make an economic load.

Thats what they were like in the 70's!

Obviously you don't put them in with half a plate of leftovers.. but you'd surely scrape off excess bits before handwashing too.

I have worshipped mine twice today ... I wouldn't be without it!

Ours broke while I was cooking christmas dinner a couple of years ago.. I had a replacement on order before the day was out!

True but I'd rather hand-wash dishes and pans than towels or bedding  A launderette is ok if you know it's only on a temporary basis but unfortunately ours wasn't.

Long term, definitely not, on cost alone.

Doors and walls will be back in fashion any time now, I'm certain of it.

I'm looking at a new extension for a utility .... first architect seemed to think I should open the whole back up and have the whole open plan, bifold doors thing. I said "that's not my lifestyle ...." and "that doesn't achieve what I need/want, it just creates big/cold/unusable space for me, with my original issues remaining". The dolt.

I'll be keeping the kitchen wall/door, although I will be able to stand in there and see out the front and out the back, so it's like open plan if you open the (wide) door, but with walls/door :)

I'm sure in 5-10 years' time people will come to their senses and want separate rooms.

Had one since 1966. It was the talk of the village. Neighbours came to stare in wonderment.

My dad hated washing up. I think it is hereditary.

I don't have one, but only because I have no space. If I did one would be installed pretty quickly.
