I don't like seeing a pile of pans when I've finished my dinner, perhaps cos I've always had a kitchen diner.

This is one reason why I've kept my kitchen as a separate room in my new house, despite everybody else thinking its practically compulsory to knock the wall down and have it all open plan!

Doors and walls will be back in fashion any time now, I'm certain of it.

We have one but I despair in the way my wife uses it.

Rather than put dirty things in it throughout the day and then switch it on in the evening, my wife thinks she should only start loading it when there is enough dirty plates to fill it.

To make things worse, if there isn't enough to fill the dishwasher she will often wash a few things by hand and then put the clean things in the dishwasher to drain which means I can't then put dirty stuff in it.

I try to beat her to it now and get dirty stuff in before she can get clean stuff in, but then she takes the dirty stuff out, washes it by hand and puts it back to drain again.

I only have two plates and two dishes out so, I need to wash up fairly often. I live on my own.

My kitchen is small, there isn't room for a dishwasher!

I clicked other because although I do have a dishwasher it stopped working a couple of years ago.

I'm hoping to buy another one in about a month's time.

I think you may have a bigger problem than the dishwasher...

When we moved last we left our white goods behind and couldn't afford to buy both a washing machine and a dishwasher immediately. I bought the dishwasher first and waited a month to buy a washing machine - you can't take dishes to the launderette!

True but I'd rather hand-wash dishes and pans than towels or bedding  A launderette is ok if you know it's only on a temporary basis but unfortunately ours wasn't.

I got one in 2004, my first. Generally, husband seems to prefer to load/unload it and puts pretty much everything in it.

I, while I was on my own for five weeks recently, would always handwash the steamer and the slow cooker bowl and tended to put the dishwasher on once every three-four days. I do rinse dishes in cold water before putting them in though.

Ive never had one. I live alone and cook a fair bit, but I don't mind washing up. I quite enjoy it, actually....(odd?). I'll usually leave the dishes to drain dry, unless there's more than fits in the drainer (rare) when I'll wash/dry one lot before washing/draining the rest.
