Do you have a dishwasher?

Following on from the 'Large booking at restaurant' thread, where people were talking about dishwashers and who has them, I wonder, who has a dishwasher and who hand washes their dishes?
Me personally; I have never had a dishwasher. Then again, there's only me and my OH.
So do you have one?
There are just two answers really... Yes or no.
I will put 'other' though, in case someone wants to put something different; I can't imagine what any other answer could be though!

God yes. I love it and wouldn't be without it. Three adults in the house and it is used multiple times every single day. It is so much quicker and cleaner than hand washing.0

Don't have one but would love one.
I live alone and I'm convinced I collate enough dishes, pans and cooking equipment in a day to make it a 'load'.0 -
Yes I have one, wouldn't be without one. Got my first one when I lived on my own and it transformed my life!0

I know many people who have one who would never be without it.
I guess I don't mind not having one, because you don't miss what you never had.
We don't seem to generate a massive amount of washing up to be fair. We are both out of the house quite a bit, so that's probably one of the reasons why.

Never had one, never used one. Wouldn't know how to start to use one.
I handwash.
I use dishes, stack up the clean/dry stuff (e.g. plate used for toast) or rinse/put them in soak if they're actually mucky - and eventually there comes a time when I think either "that lot needs to be done and I'm in the mood for it right now", or "blimey, ran out of plates, better wash that lot up".
I probably wash up 10-12x a week.
This morning I started with a completely clear sink and draining board. I've had scrambled eggs on toast, so now there's a knife/fork and a plate, plus a Pyrex jug and fork.
I wash my mug up as I go along - I restrict myself to just using one, so I have to rinse it out before I re-use it - a habit I adopted about 15 years ago after I'd accumulated a couple of dozen mugs over the years and would often find 20 mugs beside the sink that needed washing up. As I drink just black instant coffee just a swish with a bit of cold water's good enough.0 -
No, but I would love to have one.0

Yes, I love it. I think I'd actually be upset if it broke and we couldn't afford to replace it.
I LOATHE washing up though, and I like to cook the majority of meals from scratch too, so we get through a fair amount even though it's just the two of us.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I think people with more gadgets are more likely to cook more adventurously.
If you can drop some stuff into a food processor, then pour it into a saucepan and heat it up, then place the food processor bowl and saucepan in the dishwasher then cooking's "easy".
If you've no food processor and have to chop everything by hand, then wash up the bowl thing and the blades and wash up a big saucepan, it's a pain in the butt.
So, maybe those with dishwashers also own gadgets that create mess that's a faff to wash up by hand. And, maybe, they cook with more bowls/dishes than somebody who handwashes as it all gets chucked into the dishwasher. I like to use one dish and a microwave..... less washing up.0 -
I voted other as technically I have one. There was one in the kitchen when I bought the house (integrated in a cupboard, I didn't even realise it was there until I started cleaning the cupboards). We tried it once, it took hours, decided it wasn't worth it.
It's now disconnected but still there. When I finally get round to putting a new kitchen in I won't be getting another one.0 -
I own loads of gadgets and I don't have a dish washer. I love looking from scratch so gadgets make my life easier.
Although I would love a dish washer, standing by the sink washing up is the chore I hate the least (I know some people who actually love it) as I think it's just easy and not strenuous like mopping the floor. It is however, just time consuming.0
