Yep, love mine, wouldn't be without one.

I live alone and my kitchen isn't huge so I have a slimline, probably use it 3 times a week, more if I'm off work and cooking more at home.

Life's too short for hand washing dishes if you don't have to, and I'm fairly sure they're actually more efficient and less wasteful anyway, which is a bonus.

I'm the person who pressed the "other" button.

There is a dishwasher in our kitchen, but it has been used maybe half a dozen times in 12 years because the husband believes them to be uneconomical and that they don't do a good job.

I told him that if that's what he believes and he doesn't want to use the dishwasher then there was only one solution.

The solution is that he does all the washing up. I won't/don't do any of it. He comes home most days to a work surface overflowing with pans, plates, chopping boards. I do rinse the odd item - I'm not entirely heartless. :D

    They're brilliant.

I still do some hand washing as not everything is suitable for, or would fit in, the dishwasher.

However it is so useful as it gets used pots out of the way. Really good if you're doing a big meal like a roast dinner that generates a lot of stuff. You can put stuff in as you go. Leaving more worktop space.

You don't have to have a piling up of dirty pots next to the sink during the day.

We are able to just use ours every other day as it will fit two days worth of plates, bowls, cooking utensils, chopping boards, glasses, cups and cutlery.

Many things can just go straight in. But I tend to give things a very quick scrub in bowl of cold water just to get thick off first.

I had never had one before we moved into our new house and now wouldn't be without. I used to spend such a huge amount of time washing by hand.

We don't have one, but I do have a husband. He doesn't always wash up that well, but he tries.

When we replaced our kitchen my husband wanted to put a dishwasher in, but our kitchen really isn't big enough.

I don't use loads of gadgets. I have a blender, but it rarely gets used (only for smoothies and making curries).

Although, I do use the slow cooker fairly often, and it's really nice to be able to just stick that in the dishwasher, rather than having to soak and/or scrub it afterwards.

I do use a fair few pots and pans when cooking sometimes though. Chicken and mushroom pie is a favourite and that actually requires quite a bit of tools: chopping board, knife, pan for blanching peppers, and then saut!ing mushrooms, bowl to place both into whilst other stuff is finished, tray for chicken to be cooked on in oven, bigger pan for actually making the sauce and then chucking all of the other ingredients in. And that's before I've made a mess of the sideboard rolling out the pastry, and then using the pastry dish too.

That's a particularly messy one. Worth it though.

I'd definitely make it less often if I had to wash everything up by hand afterwards.

I've had dishwashers for the last 27 years. I don't use them.

  • We've got a small dishwasher; it goes on about every 2 days. It's not big enough for pots and pans, but saves constantly washing plates and cutlery up.

I don't mind washing up personally, but my eczema flairs up when i do

There are only two of us but I wouldnt be without mine....Ive had one over 30 years and use it usually every other day.

Christmas day is a doddle, 5 minutes after lunch is finished everything is cleared away and Im near to dozing in front of the telly

If I was buying a house and it had no room for a dishwasher I wouldnt buy the house.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
