Hi - just been reading your posts with interest. You are doing really well and small steps added together make a big difference. That sounds a lot for a phone bill. Are you in a contract? If you are check when it is up and start looking a month earlier. Use billmonitor.com (think that is right) to find good deals. I negotiated with Voda for my daughter and got a new phone (not iphone but she is happy with it) unlimited calls, unlimited texts and a gig of data a month for £11. Don't take the first deal they offer you - say you will mull it over.
Good luck though - you sound like you are going great guns.0 -
Hi Shirley, thank you for your kind words.
As for the phone, yes I am in a contract, and I like to have the latest tech(I'm a techie!) so I'm happy to pay what I'm paying, plus I have 2 lines - my phone and my tablet. Maybe if it was something stupid like £70 a month then I'd be like "hang on a minute..." :rotfl:
My upgrade date isn't until next July and I already know what brand of phone I'm going to go for and I'm going to cancel the tablet as I'm not using it as much as I hoped. As for the exact model of phone, well that depends which one has been released by then0 -
Haha you are different to me. I would faint if my mobile bill ws that much but each to his own. Keep taking your small steps and you will see a difference x0
-
Thank you Shirley, I'm sure I will
Yeah I used to have phone bills cheaper than that, before I had the tablet and back in a time before inflation, but I've more or less always managed a contract and paying the monthly bill on time even when I do get the latest and greatest phone each time I upgrade0 -
Last tin of pineapple in the house gone!
Now just have a tin of peach slices, the sticky toffee pudding(still!), the box of custard and the 2 tubs of ice cream :rotfl:
I may have some ice cream after dinner as it's been rather warm today!
There is still a box of stuffing mix which will most probably be used with the next roast we have and a jar of fajita sauce in the cupboard which I'm most probably going to use to make fajitas for my bf and I in the first week I'm off work as I get paid in that time so I can get the chicken and the tortillas but I won't buy all the other stuff that you can put in as we don't like that stuff.
Got some overtime at work tomorrow too. Been up since 6am this morning so I may get an early night and then hopefully I'll wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning0 -
That's a good idea to start with your own room. You're right that any more could be overwhelming.
In Marie Kondo's book (The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up) she suggests pulling everything out of drawers, shelves and cupboards and sorting it all out at once. Personally I wouldn't have time to finish the job in one go and the what do you do if there's stuff all over your bed and you want to go to sleep!:rotfl:
I think it's best to take one area at a time (like a drawer or a shelf), take out everything, throw, sell or send to Charity Shop anything you don't need and then decide what's going back in the drawer. This is where the categories come in. So say the first drawer was mostly t shirts but you find some socks in there. I'd tidy back all the t shirts that I like and want to keep but put the socks somewhere else with other socks. So now you have your tidy, t shirt drawer sorted and then next time I might start on sock drawer......
I don't know about you gemma but since I started tidying like this things stay tidy.
I have a lot of sympathy with you being stuck in a contract. My phone has 6 months to go and I can't wait for it to be up. It's been nothing but trouble and I'm sick of calling the helpline just to get someone reading a script who doesn't really understand, tells me to try things I've already done and it still doesn't work properly!!
How long to your next pay day?0 -
Hi maman, I think we posted more or less at the same time, so please feel free to scroll up a bit to check my latest post
Yeah I find tidying one 'area' at a time is much easier. When I was younger I had a bit of a fascination with cleaning, tidying up and organising things and when I did my room I would literally pull everything out onto the bed, go at it hammer and tongs for hours, burn out with half the stuff still on the bed, realise it's something like 10 or 11pm and just push it onto the floor and crawl into bed :rotfl:
I find that now when I do one 'area' at a time, if there are items in that area that belong in another, I will put them into a pile in a place where I won't miss them then when I've finished the first area, if I'm still fired up, I'll take the items that belong in another area and go and work on that area, it's like a 'chain', kind of
Oh that is a real shame. My brothers gf actually bought a new phone today from someone on one of those facebook selling sites. They were selling because they had no signal on it where they live(middle of nowhere). She has already got a new SIM card and the phone has signal here so that's all well and good.
Well I only got paid on Friday just gone, so 3 weeks and 3 days :rotfl: Luckily it's while I'm off from work and by the time I go back I only have to pay for 2 weeks of travel before I'm paid again so I'll withdraw that on the day I get paid as I'll be going to town for my brow and nail apt but that is all I hope to spend that day as I already have made plans for the day after(the Saturday)0 -
Woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, just like I wanted!
Wanted to go in the shower a little while ago but someone else is in there, oh well I'll wait
Really need to carry on with using up some stuff. Mum will have dinner made by the time I get in from work this evening and I'll most probably have some more ice cream afterwards. It will probably be ice cream all the time right now as when I looked in the freezer yesterday there were FOUR tubs!!
Another 2 have been purchased somewhere along the line and I've no idea why :rotfl:0 -
Had my shower, had some breakfast, dressed for work and raring to go!
Sadly nothing used up cosmetics wise but the 2 shower gels I'm alternating between right now feel half full at the most so hopefully I can finish them off by the end of this month/beginning of next with a shower a day. I do use quite a big blob each time too and spread it out all over my body as I also have a body puff which I feel helps with lather
I just have to do my hair, put a load of washing on(my towels from shower and clothes I was wearing before) and make my lunch then I can go0 -
The weather was so nice today i wore my new bomber jacket to work!
Just found out as i got my tea that mum finished off the potatoes and a bag of sausages from the freezer
Oh i also finished a tube of toothpaste this morning that i have been using as it was left because no one else liked the taste of it... :huh:0
