  • Oh, thank you for that tip cyantist! :D

Yeah I bought a couple of cheap varnishes from Wilkinson years ago(what was I thinking?!) and they just didn't work, and went off way too soon :(

I get my fingernails shellac'd now but I have a Ciate glittery polish that I got in a groupon mystery deal so going to use that on my toenails :)
  • Just sorted through the storage box, one product box put away with all the others on top of my wardrobe and one put in the recycling.

Now sorting through all of MY things that are on my desk after packing away the bf's things yesterday! :rotfl:
  • Just found a serum made of all natural ingredients that will have to go in the bin as it's starting to smell funky and it's been open for a good few months.

Oh well, I managed to use about a third of it and it only cost me a couple of quid. :o
  • Just passed on a still sealed pack of dental floss pick things to my brothers gf as she uses them a lot and I bought them a couple months ago in the hope of using them but haven't yet :rotfl:

I use normal string floss anyway so that's one less item in my room and one less step in my routine to try and remember/incorporate :D

It sounds like you're still on a roll gemma.:)

Glad to hear you got hold of the zippy bag from your mum. Another of the tips from Marie Kondo is not to buy any storage boxes/bags as you've probably got far more than you really need already.

Do consider charity shops if you decide to get rid of something.

Another idea is to keep a spending diary so that you write down every penny you spend. At the end of a week you can review what you've spent and decide if there's anything you could have managed without or where money's disappearing to. I found another bonus is that you think twice before spending anything as you don't want to write it down

Is your BF on board with this? I'm asking because you said you were tidying his modelling stuff.
  • Yes, i am very much on a roll maman! :D

Yeah i have a few storage 'areas' but they hold essentials. Well, all but one of them do. The one I'm trying to sort out is the storage box with various items in - R/C car parts, lighters, jewellery etc.

I actually have a bag for the charity shop on the go right now. Been sat there for a few months and i went through it for the first time yesterday and took a couple of items out after trying them on as they fit again! :D Going into town on Friday tho so what's left in there will end up down the charity shop :)

I'm already trying to actively cut on spending. The only thing i need to try and buy this weekend with my pay i get on Friday is an outfit for a christening I'm attending in a couple of weeks. I literally have nothing, no dresses, skirts and tops etc. that would be suitable for a Christening. I have shoes so i only need to buy clothing.

He's not on board as such, as in he's not going to be joining me but he's not trying to stop me either. I told him i had put his modelling things away and told him where and i asked him if he uses something to put it back when he's finished with it and he's ok with that.
  • Just had to bin the tinned pineapple from the other day as mum just bunged the tin in the fridge without containing it properly :(

Got another tin in the cupboard tho and a tin of peach slices to use with the powdered custard at some point :D
  • Also just put some decorative sand into two of the jars with handles I mentioned before. Going to sort my makeup brushes out at some point - I haven't used them yet as I apply things I'm using right now with either cotton pads or my fingers so I will give the makeup brushes a good wash before I start using them then put the thicker, fluffier ones into one jar and the smaller ones into the other jar. I also have a kabuki brush and a beauty blender which will just have to be stored on the tray that the jars are on.

Definitely feel like I'm making good progress :D
  • Miscalculated my travel expense to work yesterday and had change so ended up buying a small clear plastic box of hair grips and one of those Moroccan oil hair masks in work. I bleached my hair this time last year and the damage it has left is phenomenal. I died black over it about a month later when I got this job. It has grown a lot, and the bleached part is quite a way down my lengths now, but I'm one of those people who gives up easily so when I realised it was damaged I stopped looking after my hair properly(only washing and brushing as needed) and it most probably has effected all of my hair.

I trim my ends myself, so I will use a mixture of trimming and this colour stripper shampoo on the ends(which is on my list of things to use up, also I do use another shampoo on the roots) and when I am satisfied that the dyed hair has fully grown out I will then make a pamper evening for myself to use up the hair mask, a lush bath bomb and a face mask :)
  • It is pay day today and I've just come back from getting my nails and brows done and I had to pick up a few bits while I was in town too that I really needed.

Withdrawn my travel money for the next 3 weeks until I have my 3 weeks off work so I only have to take that with me and leave my card at home if money starts getting tight and I need to limit my spending. Will have to treat a work friend to lunch before work tomorrow as she bailed me out when my card refused to work last payday :rotfl:

The only money I really need to spend now is on an outfit for this christening :)
