Slightly off-topic and probably a dense question, but having obtained the Amazon codes what do I do with them? Are they the same as promotional codes or gift vouchers? Can they be applied to books bought from Amazon partners? Or just to new books bought direct from Amazon? I have tried to find answers on the Amazon website but with no luck.

The code is the same as a gift certificate and you can only use it for items sold by Amazon, not by other sellers.
