Strip naked and run at them...no bloke wants to fight a naked bloke!!! You could also try urinating on them...or keep a bottle of urine to throw at them! Ha ha...I think this would be quite effective though I think I may have to go some to convince the wife its a good idea!0

Now, are you sure that it isn't illegal to threaten someone with that? You might even lose your FAC if the police happened to find out.
And of course, you would be in a total pickle if someone decided to try and take you on (or if there were two of them!)
It's technically illegal to threaten anyone with anything, a deactivated gun is just so much scrap metal as is a old Maglite.
Do you honestly thing someone you frighten out of the house is going to report you?
Of course it's no more dangerous than the Maglite even if an intruder wresled it off you, but is a little more intimidating.
And yes, if you appeared on the doorstep brandishing any form of gun. inert or real you would be in trouble, and me as a cert holder would be in even more.
I conceed in this case it's the reverse of normal, ie, do as I say not do as I do. The real advice was a few posts before the 1 you quoted.
I do also agree that anything that can be turned against you, ie a bladed weapon, is a no no. As an arms enthusiast I have a collection of Bowie knives, some replicas and some antique, no way do I have those on display, but the shotgun was mounted for years over the fireplace.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

That has just brought to mind these laser lights that idiots aim at aircraft on occasion. Presumably they must be extremely blinding. Presumably illegal to have in the bedroom in case of intruders?
We recently bought a couple of LED head torches. I find it impossible to look directly at them. Even a short glance leaves that retinal 'imprint' on my vision for a while afterward.
Keep one of these handy, look directly at the intruder, and I 'think' they'd find it difficult to focus on you in order to attack....
One has a strobe mode that could be quite disorientating. Strobes of certain rates are known to induce epilectic fits in some subjects .... keep a disco light handy.0 -
Hi, look this post was always going to be controversial, but it's now gone from the sublime to the ridiculous.
How can you ask about weapons on a moneysaving site?
It almost smelt of spam, I'm sure it wasn't but it's enough to attract such persons and at the very least it will attract polarised views, which it has.
Anything can be used as a weapon and anything can be turned on you or used in court if things go teats up, end of.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Anything that you have to hand that could be used as a weapon. Could also be used by the intruder. In fact, is probably more likely to be used by the intruder than by the victim.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

Me, I'm an FAC holder too, but my weapons are locked away in accordance with the law, and so would be non-starters in a real-life situation.
I also do MA, but I reckon I'd stand more chance of hitting myself or breaking a mirror with the nunchucks, and I keep my sais in a zipped case wherever I last left them, rather than under my pillow.
None of them would be any use if someone was already in the house.
So this "keeping a weapon handy" is a bit of a fantasy, IMHO.0
