So, do you know what I am going to do? I am going to CHUCK IT OUT!
Yes, not very MSE, is it? But we are bluddy sick of leftovers and want to get back to proper home cooked comfort food (sausages and mash tonight).
Today I will clear out the fridge, plus check the freezer for stuff we never will eat, even though the squirrel in me thought I should freeze it. I will then sit down and meal plan for the next few days, using fridge, freezer and store cupboard stuff.
The Japanese have a saying .....Wabi Sabi. It means near enough is good enough, things don't always have to be perfect, there can be beauty in imperfection. I may not be 100 per cent MSE but I am happy to be Wabi Sabi.
Oh, and the leftover pasta and salad bits will be enjoyed by our two chickens, so not totally wasted. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Cross posted with Yasmin - the place I went to pays 40 pence a kilo. Not very much at all, I only had just over 7 kilos of stuff so just got three quid. There are different firms out there doing this, paying 40-50 pence a kilo. If it is stuff that is really good, then eBay might be a better bet, but even on there people seem to want something for nothing. Car booting is another possibility. One life - your life - live it!0

Another NSD so that's:
8/15Debt outstanding [STRIKE]£3491.[/STRIKE] £3303
NSD 10/150 -
After raising 6 kids, some of their friends (well it seemed like it at the time) and, for a few months, a nephew...my motto...although I didn't know it until I read Nargle's post...was and stil is Wabi Sabi. Thanks for that Nargleblast!
We needed new windshield wipers for the car so OH did the honors. The accountant has our taxes ready and I'm hoping our quarterly contributions have gone down. This year was not a good financial year. Thus, my finding this wonderful MSE site and getting serious about our finances. Is the British tax system horribly complicated? Our's, here in the US, is awful...Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Mmmm... not sure whether today is a NSD or not:(. Spent postage for an Amazon book so that was in effect paid for but then got 2 x£2 in change which needs to go to my £2 saver challenge. So I guess technically not a NSD but a neutral spend day if that makes sense.
What do people count as a NSD?Debt outstanding [STRIKE]£3491.[/STRIKE] £3303
NSD 10/150 -
Hi Yasmin, I know everyone budgets NSDs very differently! I don't include any direct debits, tilly tidies (where you round down your account) or if I get cash out one day I don't include any other days that I may spend it if that makes sense? I do include fuel, shopping etc and try to have a day where I spend on several things instead of many days, leaving items in my shopping basket on the Amazonia until its a spend day, helps with impulse buying!! Oh I dont include money that is from the joint house account as this is budgeted for house things, I sometimes have a birthday budget as well and do not include hubbies spends!
Today was an NSD so that takes me to 9/20NSDs!
