Lots of things have left the house. Went to mum's in a taxi with metal file box and two other large bags, mostly stuff that came from the hovel but landed here (and has already been sorted and reduced) before going onto the bungalow.

Whilst at the bungalow I have put away the baking stuff that mum is keeping, emptied and flattened a large box, done several household tasks and most exciting, the 3 yo and myself stood at one side of the yard directing the driver as he swung two of those builders bags (the metre cube ones) full of decorative chippings over the fence and into the only available space.

Yard is being flagged tomorrow and spare bedroom window will become French windows. The workers came later to drop off their wacker (vibrating plate). Someone had told them it could come inside the bungalow:eek: I persuaded them that it would be fine in a corner of the yard hidden under a barrow as the side gate is normally padlocked.

Had a lift home and naturally brought another bag full of items for the cs.

My builder is coming tomorrow to discuss the house jobs/ problems and give me some idea of costs. It needs doing and the best time is now. Just dreading finding places to put things (especially as DS3 has a birthday at the end of the week and has invited people over - his bed is broken so not sure where they are going to go).

    Today I am grateful for
a pleasant visit with mum, no recriminations and only pleasant members of her partner's family.
Rice salad on a wrap was gorgeous.
    Builder is coming :j:j:j

    Things that made me happy
Playing with the 3 yo (she's only 3 and 1 week) We played at being roaring lions, trying to jump high enough to touch the ceiling light. very glad not to have to join in the singing on Mr Tumble.
Doing left a bit right a bit with the bags of stone chippings.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Evening all. It's payday! And I made it without sliding into overdraft. I had about £3 in my wallet and £12 in the bank but I did it. Not done a proper food shop in ages but went with kids and that freezer got a bit of a restock. Lovely organic pork chops with a sellbydate today reduced from £6 to £1.90 so I had a few of them for when the next end of month rolls round.

Last night we had very little food in the house but I made a sort of hash with diced potato,an orange beet, a little bacon, onions and a few misshappen veg + herbs etc. Came out just fine.

I was walking in my local town to meet my new boss re my new job, and there was a youngish lad sat on a windowsill xcursing into his phone and saying but I don't get paid for ten days...what am I going to do? I thought I know that feeling. He was very distressed. I'd just been to the cash point to put a few quid into my wallet. I walked around the corner but just thought...he is in real distress. I cant bear it. I've done enough volunteering etc with street homeless and night shelters to know that there are often addiction issues but I couldn't bear his hurt so I turned round and gave him £20. He was delighted and he said he was so distressed because he had been diagnosed bipolar just a day ago and could not pay for the prescription. Now whether that was so, or whether he needed his methadone or something else who knows. I did ask what help he was getting and he is working with the right local agencies to help him so I just hope that he will turn the corner. I think I've got it rough when the cash runs out at the end of the month... I spent a few nightsat the winter shelter this year talking with a guy who is a long term heroin user. The physical and mental pain guys like that are in as the fix wears off is just terrible. Anyway I don't know why I am rambling on about this, but I had a big reminder today to be very very grateful that just for today I could go to the shop with my big healthy hungry teens, restock my stores and get going on a new venture which will bring in extra funds.

    Good morning Turtles

    Happy weekend!

Mothernerd I giggled about Mr Tumble. He was my son's favourite at around that age. It's quite interesting learning the signs that he uses in his shows. I hadn't heard of Makaton (sp) which is a simplified sign language for disabled children I think? Until watching the show. I love Giggle Bis as well though as I love silly humour and all the different people he acts make me laugh. The upright antiques roadshow character who breaks everything is probably my favourite. ..

Polly well done on your lovely reduced chops. Hope you can rebuild your freezer stash gradually too.

Today will see us travelling for son's dance class which will take up most of the day really as it's mid day. Will need to put £5 on my oyster card I think.
Will pack sandwiches although I need to go to Mr T to buy bread and supplies to do that but I may get some good bargains if I go very early.
Pretty skint but will have a quick surf around my accounts and see if I can scrounge a few quid to make a PAD with.
No big plans this weekend. Tonight's entertainment will be carrying on with season 2 of the Peaky Blinders. It's brilliant if you haven't watched it.
OH needs to buy some glue as he is going to attempt to fix his glasses (frame broke yesterday)before we shell out for more.

Good luck with your missions today all.

    Bob

Hello all. Sorry I've not been posting as my spending was out of control to be honest. Was working away and although some food spends go on expenses, not every packet of sweets I didn't need can.

Anyway, back on track on. Pay day has been and I need to do a big shop this weekend. I've meal planned for the next week and some stuff is already in the freezer.

    Five things:
Bowls (last month, will go back tomorrow)
Gardening (last weekend, plan to do more this weekend)
Walking (every day with the dogs)
Reading (last week, must do this today)
Proper chatting and laughing with DH (yesterday)
Spend less now, work less later.

Morning, just woke up after a night of nasty horrible dreams, cocodamel always has that effect on me but it's the only thing that's touching the pain.
Today it will be another NSD, number 11 this month which I'm pleased with, how many is it we are aiming for again?

I have been such a dream world of poorliness that I haven't done my 5 things
    * crochet- I need to finish off this blanket I've been working on since Christmas.
    * baking- I have a few vegan cake recipes I want to try
    * being with the family- we had a lovely family walk last Sunday, sadly this Sunday I don't think I will be up for much at all.
*cooking a roast for the family- we've not had a big roast dinner for weeks!
    *spending quality time with DH.

Pollygarter wow what a nice person you are. Never had any experience with drug users and to be honest I just keep my distance. Tend to hang around my work's car park, if I forget anything I don't return after dark. Hope you treated yourself whilst shopping.

Lots of snow about today, sat in my pjs eating poached eggs and black pudding - loving sat so far. GS got scarlet fever explains high temperatures so having a me day. Popping out later walk and take some snowy mountain pics.

Few thrifty days where I've been able to save a few £, but also a few spendy days too. Ah well, Rome wasn't built in a day. Trying to stay motivated. No point beating myself up about it. It's the general point of getting debt free that's the aim for me. Keep having to remind myself that at the start of this month I completely blew off the n@xt account which had been hanging heavily on me for years. Need a motivational boost me thinks.

Need to push my emergency savings back up. Will take some time but £80 of the hoped for £100 deposited yesterday. Better than nothing and all other bills paid.

Planning our meals chart for the week this morning before heading to the grocery store this afternoon.

    1. Looking forward to dog walk in the park and meeting my distant-relative there for a catch up this evening
    2. All school uniforms are washed and dried and ready for Monday already! Yay!
    3. Sold an item on eofbay. Will list more.
    4. Have business trip at end of the month, adding an extra afternoon to browse around old bookshops/antique and charity stores before catching train home.
    5. Grateful my famtily are healthy and happy
    On a mission!

Snow on Wearside this morning, which means I might just stay indoors and hide from the world today. Apart from taking ds to gymnastics - I have to do that.
Polly, that was very kind of you - I don't know if I would have been that generous with a complete stranger, so really good on you.

    Here are my 5 things:
    1. Spending time with my family
Watching Dance Moms with dd while the boys are at football
    2. Crochet
    Last night
    3. Getting a good night's sleep
    Thursday night
    4. A bit of exercise
This morning with my trainer - didn't register on the Fitbit though
    5. Cuddling the cats
Two next to me this morning
