Can I join in again this month. Feb I did manage to come in under budget, apologies for going awol in March but my food budget went through the roof buying "out of my ordinary" foodstuffs.

I do have a reasonably well stocked freezer which is in need of being defrosted so I aiming to only use what I have in stock this month.

Put me down for a monthly budget of £60 please
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £42.19

Hi all! I do really need to do his challenge: I'm single and still last month I manage to spend almost 300£ in groceries, toiletries, take away and coffees (and I'm not counting pubs and restaurants)
I'll try and budget 250£ for these four categories this months and hopefully I'll stop overbuying groceries and getting take away cause I'm too lazy to cook. This month I'm also relocating and the usual me would just tow away whatever is left in one place and buy again in the other one...but no more!

PS: I won't count the meals and coffees I have to buy when I'm visiting a client, as I can claim them back from my company.
    GC £~~/300

Hey all, I've been absent from the grocery challenge for a while but my funding ran out in March and I don't start my job until August so it's belt-tightening until then!

I'm going to set a budget of £120 for food for the two of us.

We've been using up stuff from the freezer so it's nearly empty, ready to be defrosted at the weekend (looking forward to being able to open the drawers easily!). But this means I'll need to spend a bit extra this month to restock it, can hopefully get my budget down to £100 for the following months.

Meal plan for the next couple of days:
Friday - banana and chickpea curry with naan and rice
    Saturday - tagine with couscous
Sunday - welsh rarebit with peanut butter gelato for dessert
    Monday - greek chickpea salad
    Tuesday - tuna pasta pesto
Wednesday - omeltte with roast potatoes
November GC: £50.55/£130. October GC: £72.60/£150
September GC: £131.27/£170. July GC: £62.48/£80. May GC: £135.00/£150
April GC: £201.91/£140. March GC: £194.98/£200. January GC: £111.41/£200.
December GC: £67.45/£80. Nov GC: £159.32/£220. October GC: £208.07/£250.

In again for April. Still not met my budget, but I am more aware of what we are eating. We don't get takeaways etc. so can I have £300 again for 2 adults. 3 meals and snacks a day, drinks (far too much Pepsi Max for me, and Hobgoblin for DH).

I've decided to take my protein powders and snacks out as DH doesn't have them and I should be paying for them myself:D I'll leave in the pancake mix and mug cake mix though as DH is a fan:rotfl:

Currently boiling up complete packets of soup mix and turtle beans to be frozen for soups and lunches. Much cheaper than tins of black beans.

We have turkey chili, chilli con carne with brown rice for dinner. I'll cook lots of extra rice to make dirty rice for lunches/stuffing peppers.

    Good luck with April everybody.
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Well, my hubby didn't get paid from his new job or the old one for last month, so you can put me down for £135 for most of the month for the 2 of us (including the £35 he spent today after cashing in a few things), 'cos that's simply all that's gonna be left after all regular bill payments and the fuel needed to get him to work.

So, inventory of food in stock and menu planning will be the order of the day. NO food out, NO cuppas whilst out and about, zilch.

    Pay day 26th.....
    Elizabeth :)
Long-term No Buys: print books, make-up, art/craft items
    Lost 8 of the 20lbs I need to shed:D

Spent £15.07 today, mostly in Home Bargains and also got a bit of fruit and veg from the local Greengrocers. Bacon, eggs and bread from Sainsbury's too. I shouldn't need anything for at least a week or so now hopefully.
Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.
  • Thanks coxy11 for the add. Spent £12.30 today, not really any food, more toilet rolls etc - will need to get that meal plan done - or I will fail on my first time back.

Have done the meal plan and shopping list ready for tomorrow. Don't actually need too much.

Am experimenting with cash this month. Drew £50 today to last until next Sat when I will draw out next £50 or top my purse up to that amount if I still have some of this wks money. Well thats the plan anywa:rotfl:y
