Yippee! I was able to earn and bank another £120 yesterday, so the panic is well over (except that the insurance company needs to refund the £789 they took out when we'd already bought a much cheaper policy - from them!!!) Just as well as I've just added up another £82.41 on food (including £13.80 on a takeaway). So budget thoroughly busted, but contents of the pot tripled anyway.Elizabeth

I think it's ridiculous work won't reimburse us if we buy food from a supermarket - we have to eat in the hotel restaurant (or nearby restaurant) for an evening meal and breakfast, and either in the office canteen, a cafe, or buy things from the train for lunch.
Their argument is you could bring supermarket food with you and therefore it's not an expense incurred during the trip - it often means it cost them £3/40 rather than £3/4!
Plus - I have to pay and wait 4 weeks to claim it back. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

NewShadow that is so stupid! I guess I would then make a point of eating things that were too fiddly to bother making myself - fajitas or complicated things with 12 side dishes or something.... thalis and such!
After work I don't want to sit and eat with people from work - I value my downtime too much!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

I generally book very nice hotels (at corporate rate) that offer room service.
My (valid) argument is I sometimes need to work on 'official business' at the hotel. :cool:That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Terrible hair cut with a new hair dresser. My sweet Chrystal died of lung cancer a few months after she found out she had it. I had gone to her forever. She is very missed.
After my terrible hair appointment, I needed a snack (my hips didn't but my emotions did) so I stopped for a taco and got an order to take to my husband....$6 on tacos today.
$337.50/$450Overprepare, then go with the flow.
