I was going to say 'good evening all' but as you're all probably asleep, I think 'good morning' would be more appropriate!!

I was going to rave about my new hairdresser, but out of respect to milasavesmoney and their hairdresser I will keep quiet. Hugs to you and her family and friends xx

I had already planned to grab a few bits from the little Tesco on the way home but restricted myself to a £3 spend on milk and Quorn mince which was on offer (£2 instead of almost £3).

I went for a job interview today (Thursday) and although I have no experience (none required!!) I did my best and I do have a small advantage in that I have a friend that works there who will obviously vouch for me as she sent me the job advert ;)

I popped to Aldi on the way home and by some miracle, nearly everything I needed was on the super 6 so I barely spent anything! And as I had to walk home with it, I only bought essentials as I couldn't carry any more.

So today's spend was an extravagant £1.74!!! :rotfl:

I couldn't believe it when I got to the till!! A pack of 4 baking potatoes, a bag of onions, a cucumber and a pack of 3 courgettes for £1.74!!!! I'm sure just the courgettes would have cost almost that in Tesco!!!! I can't wait till Saturday when I know I'm getting a taxi and can buy as much as I like!! :rotfl:

    LBM - June 2006 - DEBTS - £19,261.08
    Nov 2017 - £10,644.92!!
[ibSeptember 2024 - still not debt free but only about £2k to go!! Woop!! [/i]
  • I was thinking about either doing the 2nd purse, or going to an annual budget, as I do a lot of bulk buying and it throws off my monthly budget. I'm not sure how I'd work the 2nd purse for online purchases though? Does anyone have any ideas?
I do a 'kind of' second purse, if im bulk buying. I put the stuff away with a sticker price on it. When I come to use it, I add the price of it into the budget, if that makes sense.

Had spends of £20.72 today, bit more than intended, but still hanging on in there.

Brilliant idea. I already have a 'freezer' list, so I can easily add prices going forward, and then use stickers for other bits. A bit of work up front, but more likely to happen that way than using a notepad and 'forgetting'.

    Many thanks.:A

I'll be back when I've worked it all out - and with a revised spend to date (which will hopefully cheer me up as my signature is looking awful but doesn't reflect what I estimate is about £300 sitting in cupboards and the freezer)

    Enjoy your holidays Jackie :j

Pay day today for me and it couldn't come soon enough. With getting hit with the vets bill we were almost at the point of raiding our savings

We made it through though. My kitchen looks like old mother hubbards so I will prep my meal plans and do a big shop tomorrow.

I was so close of calling a NSD yesterday...then I go home and realised I was running out of toilet paper and I had to rush to the small Tesco to get it  So another 2£ to the grocery budget.
I'll update my signature later with the total so far...hopefully it's not scary

Not managed to post when I had access to my receipts so far. 2 main shops at aldi done £54.10 & £58.92, 2 smaller lido ones of £3.73 & £4.39 so total spend to date £121.14/250
Not been to the butchers yet and still 2 big shops so it is going to be tight. On the plus side it includes wine this year which I don't normally count in groceries but our entertainment budget has also been reduced.

    Previous months J 200/200, F 199.55/200, M 255.71/250
    Total 655.26/650

    Interim total £100

£3.45 spent on pak choi, beansprouts, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.

Also £13 spent on posting a load of fabric to mum, but that's a different budget.

    New interim amount = £104
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Hello all, it's been a while since I posted here. Life got hectic for a bit but has calmed down for now, I expect it will be hectic again in September as I have my DS starting Primary School and my DD hopefully starting Preschool for 2 1/2 days a week!

Could I please rejoin with a target of £300. £20 less than my previous amount, I'm hoping I can do it as I struggle to meet my previous budget! I have to get my spending under control as I have school uniforms to save for and I really want to save for Christmas this year and not feel so stressed out about buying presents. Fingers crossed I can do this!

My month starts today. I've gone to an online supermarket I shop at regularly and made up 4 shopping lists - cleaning, cupboard, fresh and frozen and added all the things I buy each month, this has given me a rough starting point money wise. From my lists I can choose what to add to my trolley, it helps me to remember cleaning items that I don't buy each month. I've done a big online shop for cleaning, frozen and cupboard items that come tomorrow, I've also done an online meat order, coming Monday. I went shopping today, bought fruit and veg at the market, a few items in a supermarket and some other items in one of the cut price places. Need to go again tomorrow when I can carry more to get the rest of the things needed.

Feel like I've missed something obvious but it might just be because I've been rushing this morning and have to rush out again soon to pick up DS from Preschool.

    Will update signature now.
Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013
