Happy Sunday everyone - have totted up this weeks shopping at £28.15 which has been spent mainly on little shops to supplement storecupboard and freezer overload, interesting items in there yet to be identified!
My challenge is 39 days for £100 which works out at £2.55 a day so have gone over this week but have menu planned for the week and should need very little apart from milk and bread.
Preparing beans and rice for lunches this week which are bubbling away in the SC and chicken defrosting ready to be made into a curry - following Slimming World programme so not doing too badly.

I'm just going to start by getting to grips with how these challenges work just now as I'm off on holiday in four weeks time so all money saving and frugal-ism is out the window to start with haha.
At least I have a freezer full and store cupboards aren't too bad, so fresh stuff should only be needed from now until then! Well, thats the plan!Debt free challenge 2017. Catalogue: £227.31 / £2025.28 (£1797.97 remaining!)0 -
Ok I feel I've been defeated as shopping came in at £102 this week which leaves me with £65 for the next 2 weeks, however I'm not completely deflated as our shopping is usually £150 a week so have saved loads compared so still going to keep track and possibly adjust for next month maybe0

Hi all,
I have been a stranger to this thread for most of this year, since my broadband stopped working in January, and talkTalk STILL haven't fixed it!:mad::mad:I'm really at my wits end with it, as it's costing me a fortune! I have had now web TV services this month (so I've spent on too many DVDs), and I can't even work from home. I'm writing this in a local cafe, and have now spent £6 just sitting using wifi to do some work, and browse the web!
Anyway, I'm still trying to follow the Challenge, but I don't have the patience to type posts via my phone!
I have set a limit of £170 this month, and I have already spent around £135 (receipts are at home). I have already spent much more than I would like, but I have had quite a few bargains this week - Morries had Princes tinned red salmon down to £1 on clearance, so I snapped up a lot of these, and wish I had bought more, as it is usually £3.50 in Tosco.
I also followed my usual pattern, and went into Tosco for some tinned lentils today. Inevitably, I couldn't find them but got some amazing meat bargains, including rib eye steak, lamb rump steak and a huge boneless leg of lamb. I was really pleased with this, but ended up spending £18!!!
Anyway, i won't need to spend much more this month (alhough I probably will, because I am a shopping addict!). The freezer is filled to bursting and I have enough cold meat and veg to last for over a week. I'm planning to have an hour in the kitchen tonight, making soup and lamb curry!
I have decided to include takeaways in my budget, because I think takeaways and taxis eat far more of my money than my food shopping budget does! I'm going to try to cut down on both, as I may be buying a new (more expensive) house this year.
Memo to self: GET INTERNET FIXED AND STOP SPENDING MONEY!!!!2025 goals
GC: April £100
Savings: save £6K (or move house)
Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books0 -
Bought some tomatoes, one cucumber and a banana for breakfast. I miss fresh salad - have to really limit it if I want to stay within budget...
I have also realised that a single person could probably live on £10/week if he didn't buy finest meat & fish like I do. People in UK are lucky.0 -

Big thanks to JIL and milasavesmoney for the chicken help! :T
I chopped it up while it was still a little frozen and it made it so much easier! It also finished defrosting much quicker and I've now got a huge pot of super yummy chicken tikka masala. Just waiting until I've digested enough to move and then I'll go and portion it up for the freezer and tomorrow night's tea
Another NSD today and still don't need anything so hoping I can resist the urge to shop when I go and run errands tomorrow!:ADFW Nerd 145

Evening all.
Been AWOL for while. I hope that everyone is OK and happy.
Spent £85.41 since 25/3/16 so far. Have done one big shop and lots of little ones since 25th March.
Will need to do a shop this weekend and a few little ones during the week for milk and a few other veggies.
Have a good rest of the evening all...
