April 2016 Grocery Challenge

Evening all
On Wednesday I spent £10.92 in a variety of shops for lunch stuff, cat food and a couple of dehumidifier/damp trap things.
Yesterday I spent £2.28 on milk and loo rolls, but then I had loads of time to kill and I was really hungry and thinking of the weekend and I was bad and spent another £7.07 on beer, pop and Pringles!! Very naughty I know, but I got 4 pint cans for £3.99 and as one pint in the pub would cost almost that, technically I've saved money!! :rotfl:
I was good today though and had a no spend dayI can't really think of any food I desperately need to buy so hopefully I won't spend anything over the weekend either
Have been looking back at when I first did the grocery challenge and how things have changed!! It was 3 years ago and I was on a budget of approx £10 per week rather than the £25 I'm on now!!! I did have a separate budget for the cat back then which is probably a good idea as that is one area where I wouldn't be able to make any savings and so would massively limit how much I could reduce my grocery budget. I'll keep her included for this month but will change it for next month.
I was super poor back then so the £10 budget was actually the most I could afford at the time. It was a bit grim with hardly any wiggle room or treats but I managed! On the plus side, it made me really good at budgeting and I certainly learnt to be a bit creative with cooking and shopping!! I'm in a better position financially at the moment (thankfully!!) but bad things are happening and there's a good chance I'm going to be super poor again pretty soonKeeping my fingers crossed that there won't be a drop in my income for another couple of months, but at least I've got the experience to know I can survive it and if I can use these couple of months to start getting my good habits back then hopefully it won't be too much of a shock to the system when/if it happens.
Anyway, I'm having a super rock'n'roll Friday night and am heading off to bed with a cup of tea and a book. Might even have some of the leftover Easter chocolate as well! :EasterBun

Got 8 tins of tuna for £5 - cheap, simple and filling!
I think I have enough food for the weeked...hmm...that means that I have only spent £20 for the week and that includes tuna and butter that will last me for a while! Wow I never though that would be possible... Perhaps I should try to save money on cosmetics and clothes as well, maybe I don't need those expensive face creams afterall...0 -
