Redundancy is looming for the OH so am re-joining this challenge. I've been overspending big time and need to reign it in to try and save some money. Doing a meal plan for all the bits that we currently have in to keep the shopping down a bit. Have drawn out the money budgeted for the month and split it into envelopes for the next few weeks until next pay day. DDs birthday is looming at the end of the month so am hoping that any savings I make on the grocery budget can go towards her doing something (cinema is soooo expensive lately!).
Not sure how old dd or if you have an odeon near you but they do a kids cinema on a Saturday morning it's only £2.50 on weekends and holidays for both you and dd.
On a plus note it's been a nsd0 -

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good month so far. Money (or rather the lack of it) is still causing me headaches but we have to eat! Did a massive tot up of everything we have in the house and worked out what we needed. I've spent £28.84 (used £2.50 off a £25 spend) in F*rmfoods and £24.52 in Mozza's today. Will only need top ups of semi skimmed and almond milks, bread, fruit and veg (and cat food etc but that comes from a different budget) for the rest of the month now. Will update my sig now.As of 5/4/16 :
*Grocery Challenge 31st March - 27th April £53.36 NSD's 6/28 *RAGI2016: #34 £43.64/5000 -
Hi all,
I broke the 'seal' today and spent £30.24 at Aldo, this included 8 days of cats food, for our 4 furbabies, a packet of biscuits, crisps and rolls for the men's lunches next week. Also bought 2 X each of the super 6 as it changes Thursday, ohh and some sugar and baking butter for a birthday cake for my DS,s 18th on Friday.
I did buy some mince, which I didn't have on my list, but it's was 30% off and will make a lasagne for Sunday.
Enough of my blathering - suffice to say, I'm chuffed with spending so littleNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
I seem to have managed no spending so far this month on food. Shop day on Thursday, need to plan for Tuesday and Wednesday next week before I go.
Tonight enchiladas using LO chicken & LO creme fraiche from previous meals
Wed - Nasi goreng
Thurs - Chicken Kiev, rice & veg
Fri - HM Pizza
Sat - Cheese & bean casserole, rice
Sun - Pork stroganoff, rice
Mon - HM turkey & apricot burgers, rolls, wedges, salad
All of this is already in fridge/freezer/cupboard so need to get breakfast & lunch foods plus something for Tuesday & Wednesday0 -
My total spend so far this month is £80.00/£400 - so a little behind, however Ive just had checked the freezer and I've a roast chicken, 12 chicken breasts, two packs of mince, 18 sausages, a whole chicken, enough various fish for two generous fish pies, and a packet of stewing steak. So thats around 12 evening meals worth, by my reckoning. I've also most of the store cupboard ingredients needed. So far, so good!0

First shop of April today. £54.00 down. £196.00 to go
It was a big shop for us, I restocked our tinned goods (mackerel, herrings, chick peas, kidney beans, tomatoes, butter beans, pineapple pieces in juice, baked beans and pink salmon); bought fresh fruit and veg for the next two weeks, bought meat for the month to freeze (just for MrC I don't eat meat); restocked laundry and dishwashing liquid and restocked dog food.
Hoping for 14 ns days now. Fingers crossed!0 -
First spend of the month ... £52.04
£3 spent on Beansprouts, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts for fried rice.
Enough for today and lunch tomorrow.
Running total £55That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
House Bought July 2020 - 19 years 0 months remaining on term
