Why have you concluded that? You've only spoken to the TP insurer today, give them a bit of time to contact their customer.
TP insurer did not sound friendly at all. They indirectly suggested I should go to my insurer, only noted down the details when I insisted. Also I need my vehicle to get to and from work, this is causing too much disruption. I work far from home and need to use motorways. I don't know the extent of damage to the car to drive at high speeds. If the TP accepts liability it wont matter who fixed the car, my insurer or theirs.0 -

Correct.
But if they don't accept liability, it very much will matter.
If you claim from the TP's insurer, it goes nowhere.
If you claim from your own insurer, your NCB will be hit, and you will have to pay your excess. If your insurer pass it to an "accident management" company, you may have to pay the inflated bill for the hire car.
Again... What car - rough age/value? Common car? Damage is just the door?0 -

A dent to the door should be ok at 70. However if you're worried there's more damage why aren't you having it checked?0 -

Because it was easter and no garage was open? Because I need to be at work, not fixing my car. Because there are no bodyshops close by that I can just drive into.
TP has not told insurer and wont accept liability unless their insurer is pursued for a big bill by mine. If no claim is made there is nothing to pursue by either company.0 -

So it could be dangerous to drive but you have other things to be getting on with?
You haven't claimed, however you now have something to declare for the next five years when renewing insurance.
It's all been a big waste of time and your money.0 -

If you're set on using your own insurer then that's completely fine, go for it, you've been given all the advice you need. Good luck.0 -

I don't know what point you are trying to make, but I am afraid I am not finding your comments very helpful. And you are coming across as extremely negative about it all. I could do without those things right now.
Its not wrong to be a busy person with things to attend to. Or maybe I should just hide under the covers as people vandalise my property?
What do you suggest I should do?0 -

I suggest you perhaps follow my advice in post #62.
Obtain the RK details from the DVLA (fee will be payable) and then chase the RK for the damage.
That's what I would do.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Body shop says it will need a new door fitting. New door costs £391 including VAT from dealers + £200 + VAT for paint matching and installation by body shop.0
