Is this the first offer you've had? If so maybe that's making it seem more insulting because there hasn't been any other interest... yet. If they are serious then maybe they will increase their offer.

You are engaged in a property sale - no-one is personally insulting you by putting in a low offer!
I think we will disagree with this, money is money, I need it and he wants to spend as little as possible we both had different views on what we want out of it but offering 16% less that the asking price is not just trying it on its taking the xxx0 -

If it was a few months and it still want sold I would rethink but its been on the market for 3 weeks so he can try his luck else where as we wouldn't even be able to get our deposit out of that :mad:
Why so cross? Don't take it personally. As pointed out above, they have the right to offer whatever they want, you have the right to say no. It's really not a personal insult.
As for the d!cor - no doubt it's well decorated and you like it, and you think it's neutral, but it won't necessarily appeal to buyers. I've viewed houses whose owners have spent money on 'decorating to sell' and tbh, it's a waste of money if it's not my taste.

Maybe the seller finds you having unrealistic high expectation but is genuinely interested!
If you are in a slow market (3 weeks, 1 offer) it's not really a strong seller market. If you don't like the offer you can stay put, after all the house is nice and doesn't need anything doing!

I would say that the house that has just been sold for 69k shouldn't have been able to get their mortgage either, I hardly think 3 weeks is slow?? I would say that its more down to the new stamp duty rules coming in as the area is more investor heavy0 -

You can never really compare sales like for like.
Also, it depends on what it's like in your area but 3 weeks can be slow. I bought not so long ago and 3 hours was considered slow...0 -
