I don't have any time for the SNP either and as a Unionist I'll be gutted if Scotland goes indy but surely the SNP will take full advantage of May calling an election while denying them a second indy vote?
There always have been and always will be General Elections, including snap ones.
BUT it was agree by all sides that there would only ever be one Independence Referendum.
No advantage to be taken0 -
How does May not have the time or resources to deal with a Scottish referendum which should be pretty much left up to the Scots to decide (David Cameron's words) but find the time and resources for a random out of sink GE?
No wonder she's the laughing stock of the EU!
Because this'll be done and dusted in 7 weeks rather than Sturgeon's 2 year Prolonged Campaign Of Hate (tm)?
It's a great opportunity for remainers to get behind the Lib Dems and make some gainz0 -
Personally I hope they do but as they have 54 out of 59 parliamentary seats already you've not made too risky a bet there. Say they won 53 seats you'd win your internet bet but would be gut wrenchingly disappointed I'd guess.
I'd take a punt on something like 45 - 49 because I think the SNP peaked a couple of years ago and are on the wane.
How many seats do you think they'll lose?
Put me down for no more than 35 SNP MP's.0 -

...But wasn't the line 'unless there is a material change' to the position of Scotland a caveat? You may not agree with that but as an outside observer it seems to me the Brexit vote is a huge 'material change'. The SNP will spin that and May's opportunism in calling for an election for all it's worth. Sturgeon will campaign on the view the only way Scotland can avoid Brexit and the policies of the tories will be by going independent? That's got to be a very powerful message....even if you disagree with it yourself?0 -

No I don't expect big gains for the SNP.
I repeat: If the SNP do not maintain their seats in the Scottish Parliament will you publicly agree you were wrong?
I'll even be generous and discount the first few losses in that.
I would be most surprised if the SNP don't lose at least ten seats.
Over a dozen is most likely.0 -

Only ~25% of people in Scotland voted for that manifesto.
That's the reality.
The SNP and the indy support will continually tell you otherwise but the numbers don't lie. So if you don't believe me take a look at the turnout and vote share in the Scottish parliament elections for 2016.

With Scots wishing to remain in the EU and not wanting to have a indyref both 'polling' at 60%+, its going to interesting to see how this breaks. Accepting of course that one figure is from a poll or two and the other represents 60%+ of those who voted in the EU referendum.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

100% certain now.
Well you have obviously been smoking your socks. Even one seat lost, points to us remaining in the Union. The Nats either have a clean sweep or they shut the f...k up until the government says they can have their chance. Which I am sure will come.
But they still won't be happy.0
