I realise it maintains the 'don't scare the horses' narrative but if Scotland leaves the UK then the Scots will not be British any more.
Some may have the right to dual nationality due to being born in what remains of the UK or have a residency qualification but I'd fully expect Scots born and living in Scotland to become Scottish not British on Scexit.
This was discussed a lot back in 2014. IIRC, everybody legally resident would have the right to a Scottish passport.
The UK has a tradition of accepting dual nationality (in fact don't Northern Irish people all have rights to Irish passports as well as UK ones?), and I don't see Scotland being any different. I very much doubt the rUK would want to remove UK citizenship from all its citizens who lived in Scotland on that date, especially if people asked to retain their UK citizenship,
I expect many people may find benefits to dual nationality. UK passports have some of the best visa-free travel rights in the world.
So I expect many people will have both and some may simply opt for one or another.
I wonder if people are confusing the SNP with UKIP? The SNP want more people to be Scots, whatever their origin. UKIP want fewer people to be British.

It's funny how all the people who are fingers in the ears Lalala-lalaland Brexit-heads are all hugely against the idea of Scottish independence.
Apparently the only kind of independence Scotland is allowed is one it doesn't want, and the one it does want, isn't good for it.
Well I guess there is some sense in that, after all, the UK holds all the cards in the Brexit negotiations, and the haircut the 27 euro countries are going to have to take begging us to still trade with them will probably cost them more money than they make.
Scotland certainly mustn't be on the inside of all that. Especially as like, the rUK won't be able to impose any special punitive terms at all on iScotland, as trade will be wrapped up into the post Brexit agreement...
Yes, it isn't good for it unless the deal between the EU and the UK is also good, in such a case there's little point in damaging Scotland by way of independence when you'll be fine as part of the UK. But I'm sure you knew that anyway as you've read through this thread and researched the topic extensively.0 -

Considering the position we were in at the point of union,IE the poorest country in Europe, you should rejoice about the comparatives.
We are now one of the wealthiest counties on the planet.
Our journey from abject poverty to unbelievable prosperity is whether you like it or not directly down to our union with England.
Your constant whingeing and blaming of all of our problems on Westminster shows you not only to be shallow but also incredibly poorly educated about Scottish history.

Anyway, we might not have an opposition in a few months time anyway, never mind after independence.

Got to love the way they've substituted the word 'vote' to 'force through' there. And as for Tories storming out to do constituency work, there's only hardly any of them have constituencies. They're mostly list MSP's.
I hope they do anyway, then it'll be a clear vote between independence and the dissolution of Holyrood altogether. It's become more and more clear over the last few months that the Tories are starting to regard Holyrood itself and Scottish based democracy as illegitimate as this proposed referendum is. More fool them.
Mhari has been referring to Jacob Rees-Mogg as her favourite and her boyfriend, so I am afraid it looks like Westminster has done a number on her.

You ought to follow your own advice.
It wasn't many pages back where you made a lot of assertions, didn't stay on topic/in context and topped it off with a personal insult regarding my ability with percentages and statistics.0 -
