Wishart's right of course. Vote till you boak, rank them all. Tories are advising the same strategy. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Try not to assume that there is something unique and irreplaceable about Scotland's current role in defence, be it nuclear or otherwise.
Be assured that - were independence to become a reality - we in Scotland would certainly not find ourselves able to exert pressure on rUK for those reasons.
Indeed the likelihood is quite the opposite - and not just for employment as has been mentioned.0 -
I don't think a coal mine could be used for many reasons however tin is often mined from granite so much more suitable, hence my question. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

The nuclear world stores such equipment in a variety of places.
Surely you are not seriously suggesting that rUK has no options other than Scottish Glens?

I was commenting on the Cornish suggestion from Tromking as an alternative to Faslane. As it happens I believe that if the Clyde bases had to move then Cornwall is probably the best for position and geology. I also don't think that it could be a bargaining position in any negotiations as there are other locations in rUK.The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

I agree wholeheartedly. And yet people still [STRIKE]threaten[/STRIKE] sorry, suggest partitioning Scotland as it goes independent, cutting off tory Dumfries (keeps ferries open to Belfast I suppose), LibDem Shetland, and, hey, who knows, that Edinburgh Labour seat might be thinking of a Passport to Pimlico/West Berlin exclave status.
I expect they'll want to rename Shetland "Oilster".

Agree 100%.
Avoid partitioning into ever smaller pieces.
Reject spurious "differences" in the people of the UK requiring constitutional change.
Work together to solve the Uk's problems whether one lives in Dundee or London.
ps zagubov, any further forward in my offer of swapping?
I want to be British so London would be fine for me; you seek an iScotland so a house in Dundee would allow you a vote?

I've lived in both cities for many years and loved them both.
I want to be British. My wife and kids are Londoners and English. I've said before if Scotland leaves the UK I'm staying. I've also said I'm a radical federalist and I'd prefer if the UK reorganised itself more democratically so all four home nations have their own parliaments. I think devolution is the answer to many problems which is why I voted for London to have it. If they'd offered it to England as a home nation I'd have voted for it.
We're all ill-served by the current set-up. We can all think of better ways of organising the UK.
Westminster could pre-empt all independence movements with a responsive constitutional reorganisation of the United Kingdom. However the only parties who wish this in England are (at least for the moment) the Lib Dems who aligned themselves with the tories, and I'm sorry to say "if you fly with the crows you get shot with the crows".
I love England and the UK so much that I expect I'm regarded as a bore for the posts I've made about it.
On the other hand I know Scotland well enough to recognise when people are talking mince about it or its prospects as independent nation, and I'm happy to correct them. Which on this website is more of a full-time job than it ought to be.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
