SNP need to focus more on independence regardless of whether Scotland is allowed into the EU
They I imagine will take a leaf from the Brexit campaign and focus on clear messages based around control and autonomy.
They need to dispatch the oil debate early on saying lots of independent nations prosper without oil.
Conrad, the nationalists will be harping on about everything except economics, you can bet your life on it. When the head of the commission for delivering a working economic model for iScotland for Nicola comes out and says basically what we've been saying for quite some time (whilst being met with deflection or silence) it's pretty much game set and match to the economic argument against independence.0 -

Except if you were informed, you should have known about the Conservative in/out referendum pledge in their manifesto, it was announced prior to the first indy ref. No excuses there I'm afraid.
I'm wondering, if Scotland doesn't get a referendum or they do and indy loses again, will you emigrate to the EU? You seem to be so much in love with it.0 -

Support for Indy reaches all time record high....

I suppose the campaign hasn't kicked off proper yet has it? If it ever does.
No that's a good thing. Take oil out of the next independence debate altogether. As Hamish and I will both admit we spent waaaay too much time debating it last time round.
And to be perfectly honest, oil prices and revenues don't seem to have affected independence support to any great degree anyway. As they've gone down, support has gone up. Better to debate the economics this time round with oil truly off the table. Is too volatile. Also if the Growth Commission are to be honest in their findings that's also a good thing.
I'm looking forward to the part on Brexit effects. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

The YouGov one seems to be out of step with the last 3 or 4, this SSA study and the Survation one tonight which also has indy at 47%.The Survation poll is very significant- it was carried out on the day and after the announcement - when any expected backlash would be strongest. Instead it shows no change, and the ScotCen study backs up recent polls that no is just ahead.
Also and just to be perfectly clear about mandates for a future ref because I've been bored hearing it today from Tory MP's and MSP's... opinion polls do not make for mandates, voters in elections do.
Edit :- reading there were no 16-17 year olds in the YouGov poll. But datasets not out yet.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Sky did a poll yesterday showing that most Scots don't want another referendum, and it wasn't ny a small margin, either.
Why not hang on, see what Brexit brings, then if you aren't happy with the outcome, take it to the polls again.
The reality is that there are more people in England who voted remain than there are in Scotland. We lost, (I voted remain too). Having a vote during the Brexit negotiations just makes no sense.
It is already clear that due to the Barroso doctrine, Scotland will not be able to stay in the EU. So why not hang on, assess the situation in full possession of the facts?
I get the reasoning, just not the timing, which smacks of posturing by a single issue party. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It has to be before the two year ends ... and have a wee look at Spain ... they say we are welcome now ... as do many others ( personally I'm not too impressed with that ... we should've been welcome first time round ... but that's another argument for another day )0
