What you really should be concerned about is an English independence movement because without England the Celtic nations of the UK are economically mucked up.
Good point, the English have kicked out the euro spoungers, time to kick out the Celtic spoungers next.
I wonder why they don't.I have a deep burning indifference0 -

Torrance, Sinclair, Farquarson, Dale, Massie etc have all now woken up and joined reality with the rest of us in Scotland in seeing the way things would play out, rather than the bluffing/holding out for more powers/federalism/never happen fantasy land they've been living in since June.
Not really "the rest of us in Scotland"....
You; and a minority of the electorate.
Try some less obvious propaganda next time.0 -

I thought Nicola was in 'wait-and-see' mode?
Let's hope the tories apparent panic doesn't have the desired effect and make all the sensible scots realise what independence vs the union actually means.
After all, the last thing the SNP need is a serious, nationwide analysis of their performance. And when the govt don't have to worry about labour you can expect a lot of resource being pushed straight into the tories north of the border.0 -

I see no signs of her being worried at all. On the contrary, she doesn't appear even slightly bothered by SNP kite-flying.Shakethedisease wrote: »....Sturgeon means it and always did about a second referendum. Well, we can all see that you spend your time reading too many fawning Scottish SNPers and Scottish nationalist journo articles, not to mention blogs and twitter tripe.Shakethedisease wrote: »....And they're all getting more than a little bit antsy now given the choice is either to refuse one outright ( boost independence support) or let one happen ( May has to deal with EU negotiations and a Scottish ref at the same time).
Or even (c) wait for the Supreme Court to make its ruling, or (d) let the 'referendum' happen and take no notice, or even (e) insist that a third referendum be held.
There would be no need for Theresa May to "deal with" a Scottish 'referendum'. The constitution is a reserved matter. She can just ignore the result, which may not (of course) even be the one you want. It would have no legal status, not even 'advisory'. It would be no more than one big opinion poll. (And since you yourself ignore the results of opinion polls, I think you are morally obliged to extend the same privilege to the Maybot.:))
This might well make you angry. Who knows, perhaps there might be some demos, and someone will seize control of a post office in Edinburgh. It doesn't matter. Nothing will happen before Brexit (circa 2019) .0 -

The result ? Alas, neither you or I can predict if you're being honest. Although you are of course welcome to keep comforting yourself with the thought of another No vote.
No need for comfort, if Nicola thought she had a chance she would be pushing hard for a referendum now.
When in reality the only hope she has is she waits long enough for the brain washed weans to reach 16. Even then I very much doubt that will have much effect.0 -

The clock is ticking down. Once the UK is out of Europe. They may be no way back in.0 -

Scotland is in wait and see mode. Not Sturgeon who'll call a referendum/vote on the basis Scotland will be out of the Single market and has never deviated from saying she will. Is the journo's and others who've so far been living in la-la land.
The harder the Brexit the better *as far as support for independence is concerned. As for serious nationwide analysis of the SNP and their performance. It's ALL the media in Scotland and the UK ever do regarding the SNP. There's never anything else making political news, not since 2011 anyway. People are getting more than a little bored with it evidenced of course by the fact all this 'serious analysis' has failed to dent SNP votes.. even though they've been in charge of Scotland for a decade.
The Tories pushing resources north happened last time as well. Labour activists on social media were openly tweeting about 'spending Tory money to get Labour votes'...Labour fronted the whole referendum in Scotland as the Tories were too afraid of their own toxicity. They'll be fronting it themselves next time round and while Davidson might be popular, she's not that popular. Her remain stance, Wembley appearance and quotes about how vital Single Market membership is for Scotland back then.. are coming back now to bite her big time am afraid. Then of course one has to turn from 'popular' Davidson who at the end of the day is just a junior party leader and take into account the rest of the Tory party in the UK and consider..
* I'm talking only in the context of independence support, not overall for either Scotland or the UK.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Sorry, but you're in la la land too. There will be another indy vote soon in some form. Either Westminster approved or not, or Holyrood dissolved and all SNP/Green candidates standing on an independence mandate, and/or SNP MP's coming home and standing on the same in 59 by-elections ( which would make either a de facto independence referendum anyway ). One way or another it'll happen, and before Brexit happens too.
Best you get used to the idea. Mrs May only just seems to have just grasped what's going on.Theresa May prepares 'war cabinet' to fight IndyRef2
The Prime Minister appears to be preparing for a showdown with Nicola Sturgeon over a second Scottish independence referendum.
Theresa May has led a “war Cabinet” on the “critical” issue of saving the Union in the face of a threatened second independence vote.
The jittery Prime Minister symbolically put the future of the UK at the top of the Cabinet agenda – a sign that she is preparing for an independence showdown with Nicola Sturgeon within months.
Ministers spent a large part of their regular Tuesday morning meeting on just two subjects – the future of the Union and the threat from Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
Talks about sustaining the Union through Brexit took up almost the whole 90 minutes of the meeting, with May taking the lead.
They only spent a few minutes talking about Russia....It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
