The difference is ... Swinney recognised and accepted there is an issue in the Scottish education system ... and guess what ... he's gonna deal with it but in a way that's right for Scotland
I await your clap for our NHS ... in your own time of course ... wouldn't want to embarrass you by expecting it straight away0 -

And once again there's just one side who resort to intemperate language and personal attack.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it? :think:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Well I think the fact it was suggested we don't copy Englands education would indicate it's not exactly great either ... why should we settle for second best... when ... if we sort it right it can be the best again ?
To be fair, the QT programme wasn't suggesting that Scotland adopt the English education system curriculum-wise. Down here most people think broader would be better, but initiatives like the English Baccalaureate have simply never gained momentum. And the broadening effect of AS levels has been sabotaged by a certain Mr Gove, who should know better but hey ho.
They were probably asking whether schools could become autonomous from LEA control. It's probably fair to say that the results of this could politely be described as "mixed". :whistle:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Och yer back I see ... ah missed ye ... not to worry Molly was keeping your seat warm ... ask Molly what my intentions are she seems obsessed with me leaving Scotland as well ... I'm sure between the two of you you can work it out and let me know what you want me to do0 -

Your right it wasn't ... it was saying it doesn't think it would be a good idea to adopt it ... to be fair I know nothing of the English educational system so I don't feel qualified or that it's my place to say whether it works or not, I was merely reflecting on the fact that two panel members suggested we don't adopt it
And I think that's a fair thing to say, Scotland ( like every country ) needs to work out and do what is best for it ... that may be copying the English system or adapting it ... it may not be, but something does have to change within the Scottish system that is for sure0 -

There’s a little woman I know who is from the Glasgow area and she always gets her own way. If there is a committee meeting she is aggressive. She interrupts. She tries to belittle the point of view of others. People avoid getting into an argument with her because rather than discuss calmly she gets emotional. She makes assertions which are really just her own opinions, but they are presented as truths. If someone crosses her she will bear a grudge, but at the same time she is a sycophant always trying to find allies and sucking up to superiors.
I’m sure most of us know men and women like this in the world of work or elsewhere. The problem is that these tactics frequently work. Most of us want a quiet life. If I come across Mr Angry on the street I do my best to avoid eye contact.
The problem in Scottish politics is that we are confronted with legions of Mr and Mrs Angry lead by the angriest woman of them all. The problem is that they have been indulged. They have been spoiled. No-one dares to stand up to them. It’s time we started daring.

Haha, effiedeans sounds pretty rattled herself there. Talks of battles and fights make me wonder if she's been reading the Art of War in preparation for Indy Ref 2. Talk of not allowing the BBC to support our enemies, when talking about the party of government in Scotland is frankly disturbing.
What does she mean here? The SNP know that school children are frequently little nats because of football.0
