Aye right!

Rowley not all in pro independence quite yet (wants Home Rule). But getting there very quickly given it's only been 24 months since the last referendum. Henry McLeish is also just about there now too.

That Siobhan McFadyen article on sex education seemed made up to me - she really is a poor journalist. comment from the Scottish Government stated no funding had been given for such a project.
Nicola Sturgeon is to address the Irish Senate - first serving head of government to do so.
I do have strong reservations about council tax being clawed back by central government and spent on education - feel that changes should be made to income tax levels for such spending.
However, do you think SNP will decline because of it? Look at the alternatives. You clearly hate the SNP, and are desperate for their support to decline but when support for independence is still in the high 40s, people will vote for them as a means to an end even if they didn't support every one of their policies. The only way for the honeymoon period to end is to have independence!0 -
BTW, did anyone read Effie Deans' latest blog? This is someone who Ruth Davidson has retweeted and who Unionists on twitter adore - can you imagine the furore in Nicola Sturgeon openly supported Wings?
http://effiedeans.blogspot.co.uk/I remember, but I refuse to mourn. Every soldier who took part in the First World War would be dead now anyway. What have they lost? They lost some years of life. But are those years of real consequence? Does it really matter if a soldier died when he was twenty or survived and lived to be ninety? The result is the same.
How do you argue with this sort of logic?0 -
How do you argue with this sort of logic?
Okay, so why are so many opposing Daesh and the Taliban?
According to your quote, the same could be said for these in that in "X" number of years time they will have died anyway.
The real consequence is the preservation of human rights in a democracy as opposed to subjugation by extremist authoritarian groups.
Disregarding the efforts of those who fight to preserve the freedoms which we enjoy is at best thoughtless and immoral, demonstrating ignorance and even disinterest.
BTW, just because some [STRIKE]twits[/STRIKE] tweets are followed do not presume that many unionists agree with the posted sentiments.
The numbers following are really quite small.0 -

Whilst it won't hurt anything, she needs to be careful who she sidles up to in the Irish political culture.
Besides, Ireland has it's own EU issues looming and the word Eirexit may well be heard often in the next few months.
The Irish were more than annoyed at the Apple case and if the EU decide to do something about the corporation tax, as rumoured, it could well start stirring things up.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

The First Minister has said she will seek discussions with EU institutions and other EU member states to "explore all possible options to protect Scotland's place in the EU".
She will meet Irish President Michael D Higgins and minister for foreign affairs and trade Charlie Flanagan, as well as around 100 business representatives.Besides, Ireland has it's own EU issues looming and the word Eirexit may well be heard often in the next few months.

But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

When in actual fact.
All that article says is she will speak in the Irish Parliament, no mention of discussions surrounding brexit.
A discussion takes two or more people to partake. Nicola will no doubt be giving a monologue.
We will however wait and see with some interest how this all pans out.0 -

Reading between the lines it looks like what's been said is that Ireland will of course take part in formal talks about the UK's exit from the EU.A spokesman for the Taoiseach's office said: "Minister McHugh's remarks concerned formal talks around the UK's exit from the European Union, which - once officially launched - will be between the UK Government and the 27 other member states of the European Union, including Ireland.
But seems quite happy to have Sturgeon over talking about Scotland staying in."I am looking forward to the opportunity to speak to senators about my hopes for continued work between our two nations and my plans to protect Scotland's interests in the EU."
Also well played by Keith Brown.MSPs urged to back Scotland remaining within EU single market
MSPs have been urged to unanimously back Scotland's continued membership of the EU single market in a Holyrood debate.
Scottish Economy Secretary Keith Brown wants the Scottish Parliament to "show consensus" over the issue so it can present a united front in calling on the UK Government to look at options to protect Scotland's access to the single market during Brexit negotiations.
The Scottish Government has said it will bring forward proposals to keep Scotland in the single market even if the rest of the UK was not part of the trading agreement.
Forces Scottish Labour and Lib Dems to come out and publically support the SNP in absolutely everything just short of independence regarding the EU question. Then flounder about back tracking looking like idiots should May refuse. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Or when it has been stated it is by those that no-one sensible would ever pay serious attention to.
Like your emboldened headline "MSPs urged to back Scotland remaining within EU single market" - yes, "urged" by Keith Brown, the SNP MSP and Scotland's Economy Secretary.
Given their so-called "plans" and the current dire state of Scotland's economy, why on earth would anyone listen to his "urges"?
Ergo, nothing more than waffle.0
