We can see from the results of the GE 2015 what everyone thought about him.
And we can see from the 2014 Independence Referendum what everyone thought about us removing ourselves from the UK!0 -
Shakethedisease wrote: »No you did. You're arguing against yourself. Freedom of speech and the right to protest were exactly the reasons Salmond didn't condemn the protest. And he said so at the time.
Now you're trying to argue that Salmond was trying to shut down freedom of speech and the right to protest at the same time as asking me to check what Salmond said, which was that people have the right to protest and freedom of speech to do so.
Make up your minds ( string too ) ----> Salmond agreed with him which is why he didn't condemn the protest. And he was also well justified in saying so.
You're tying yourselves in knots trying to paint a picture which is not there. Salmond, Farage and Galloway ALL agree on freedom of speech/right to protest etc. ONLY Salmond was asked to condemn it for some reason ? On a protest that was nothing to do with him ? You're confusing only yourselves with your arguments here.
mmm nope.
I'll help you.Salmond added: "Yes we will have a political debate and discourse in a proper way in Scotland. We can frankly do without Ukip, who dislike everybody and know absolutely nothing about Scotland.""We opposed Nigel Farage coming because we believe in a society that welcomes immigrants, that welcomes people from all walks of life, wherever they come from, but doesn't welcome racists like Nigel Farage."
The First Minister of Scotland openly advocating the silencing of opposing political views. Regardless of his political affiliation, the First Minister should be welcoming of all elected voices, which is what George Galloway was pointing out.0 -

I saw him in Glasgow and it was the craziest thing I've ever seen. Someone at the front was trying to ask him a question about education, and he spent the whole time screaming at someone in the mid-distance who allegedly called him a traitor, even though no-one else heard it. Tom Harris was busy taking photos of everyone with his Union Jack mobile phone. It was very surreal. The one in Ayr on YouTube is probably even worse.0 -
Like many here I suspect, I don't like Galloway's politics (nor Farage's for that matter) but he was right on what he said. The clip did not show the remarks that Robertson made before which provoked Galloway; presumably they were to the effect of complaining that Galloway was on the panel.
Galloway was arguing against the attitude that people should not have the right to speak their mind and he was well justified in what he said.
Angus Robertson was making the point that there there was one politician on the panel in favour of independence, and 4 opposed, and also that there was a by election in Scotland where George Galloway and Nigel Farage's parties were not standing. So not about George Galloway specifically. Incidentally, George Galloway is the worst MP I have ever had in my life, and I've had a few crackers represent me.0 -
Sturgeon to stymy article 50!

I guess now we might find out just true that 'equal partners' line was in the last referendum. The Scottish government is to seek to intervene against the UK government's appeal to the Supreme Court over the triggering of Article 50.
The Lord Advocate, Scotland's most senior law officer, will now apply to be heard in the case. He is expected to argue that the consent of the Scottish Parliament should also be sought before Article 50 is triggered.
Confirming that it would seek to intervene, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she believed Scotland should be treated as an "equal partner" in the United Kingdom.
If the Supreme Court was to allow the Scottish government's intervention and ruled against the UK government, it could mean there would have to be a vote on Article 50 in Holyrood as well as in Westminster.
Ms Sturgeon stressed that she was not attempting to veto the process of England and Wales leaving the EU.
But she said the "democratic wishes of the people of Scotland and the national parliament of Scotland cannot be brushed aside as if they do not matter".
The first minister said she would not go into the detail of what the Lord Advocate will argue, but made it clear she personally believes the UK government should seek approval for triggering Article 50 through a legislative consent motion at Holyrood.
She also said she believes there are those both in the Welsh and Northern Irish governments who would take a similar view about their own parliaments. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Scotland gets one vote per citizen, same as England, Wales and Scotland. Sounds equal to me.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0
