I'm out at the moment but the figures I got were from Scot.gov too, as I recall a fair chunk was services but a surprisingly large amount of foodstuffs and manufactured goods. Clapton probably found the same data, I'm out atm so I've no time to check.

    http://www.gov.scot/Resource/0044/00442854.pdf

its published by the Scottish Government so its probably a pack of untruths

:D You do make me titter sometimes Clapton. Thank you. Although the figs seem to be 4 years old it does indeed seem to be services that make up the bulk of exports to rUK.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

No problem. I was just wondering if those sorts of bank transactions are being counted as Scottish exports simply due to HQ plaques, even if they happen elsewhere in the UK.

I doubt they can be RBS or HBOS transactions as both Nicola and Alex argued very persuasively that both these were English Banks (well since 2007 anyway)

    Oh please.
    Pot, kettle & all that.
That is all you have done in this AND the previous thread.

    Well said AMSJ :)

Looks like the "propaganda thread" has begun to become counter-productive though.

People that live in Scotland, keen to avoid the division and stress of 2014 being repeated coming forward in increasing numbers here, and no appetite for it on the streets.

Not what the OP intended, I'm sure!

Wouldn't be surprised if this thread suddenly "disappeared" in the near future. :rotfl:

Perhaps a new thread in the offing?
    How about :
A "So long SNP and thanks for all the fish" thread?
    Quite appropriate, no?

And now we await with eager anticipation the inevitable forthcoming pro-SNP pro-indy response. ;)

Well the last thread got too long and was in danger of being closed by the powers that be.

Shakey volunteered to start another and keep the discussion going and did just that. I can't blame her for that. Without this thread where would I have blamed her for all the other things?

Seriously, although obviously I think that what I read from the acolytes here borders on postcards from la la land, it does serve a useful conduit for informing us what is in the mind of the SNP Collective.
    Union, not Disunion

The politician's favourite tool has got to be the 'blame card'.

Osborne blamed the Eurozone for our slow growth post recession.

Large numbers of poor and uneducated are blamed for Brexit.

Westminster is blamed by the SNP about every half hour or so.

A bit more humility and honesty from the politicians wouldn't be so bad.

Scotland faces some real economic challenges, whether inside the EU or not. Being in the EU hasn't stopped a 15 billion deficit being run up has it?

If the EU is so great why are some of the poorest towns and neighbourhoods in Scotland?

Do you really think the EU is going to pour money into Scotland? Fat chance. Look at the biggest beneficiaries of the EU social cohesion fund. It's places like Poland.

There's been a Scottish based thread running one way or the other since 2011 ish or so. When they get to 10,000 posts apparently threads get removed or something. This is the latest one and the only one I've started.

I believe the last threads title was titled something like 'Fat Salmond and Fishy Sturgeon want to take English money' before it was edited lol. We all still posted in it regardless. So I tried to give this thread title the same sort of vibe with the fat and the fish mentions. Tradition if you like. ;)

Sweetly ironic that now you propose to give away the fishing grounds that brexit will bestow back to Scotland.
