If Dumfries and Galloway can have their own referendum on remaining part of the UK after a Yes to Scottish independence, other regions must also be allowed. Similarly if it's a No I would imagine.
So really we're talking about regional referenda to determine which regions want to stay in the UK and which want to leave after Scotland as a whole decides to leave the UK (cunning plan, someone is a Baldrick). If this was how a potential indy2 ref would look like it seems unlikely anyone would vote Yes except the utter loons. It would be like watching what's happening to Labour, happen to Scotland, sad.
And if the indy ref picture in 2014 is even remotely similar to indy2 it'll be parts of Scotland leaving Scotland, rather than Scotland leaving the UK. There would be vast swathes of Scotland still part of the UK, with a couple of regions trying desperately not to haemorrhage business, jobs, tax revenue and people.
But it probably wouldn't come to that anyway.
The question on any ballot paper will be 'Should Scotland be an independent country ?'. Just as those areas that voted Yes were bound by a majority of No votes in 2014. So would the opposite apply in the other direction. There will be nothing carved up.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Are you suggesting the people on this thread are "winding-up" the English people on this thread ? Are you suggesting the independence minded people of Scotland are " winding -up" the English ?
Though you know what they say; "if the cap fits ....."
I tell you what; though I must now leave, I will soon post that very question in a new thread together with a poll.
THAT will decide the answer.0 -
Oh I imagine in the fantasy world a few here have created (thinking D&G have the right to stay in the UK if Scotland goes ) when D&G go they will be quickly followed by the places I mentioned, there are already Cornish and Yorkshire independence groups kicking about ... Not heard of any London ones ... but I don't doubt they wouod go as well
I genuinely found that entertaining.
You honestly think everyone hates each other and wants independence?
The opinions you hold do not appear to me to be the opinions of hope, but of tribalism. You want your tribe to be top dog and you want to be legitimised by the tribes of others. You'll get no cheer from Yorkshire, Cornwall or London. We'll all stick together. And if Dumfries and Galloway want to stick together with the rest of us I'm sure we'll facilitate that if we're ever negotiating Scotland leaving. If any other regions feel the same need I'm sure we'll welcome them too.0 -

Ah.
So in the EU referendum the situation is:
Scotland voted to remain, in a UK wide referendum, therefore we shall seek to remain in the EU as per the wishes of the Scottish people, or words to that effect. Completely ignoring the fact it was a UK wide referendum and the notion of Scotland didn't come into it. Right?
If that then requires indy2, and it's a Yes. But D&G said No, they are denied the special dispensation the SNP allowed themselves during the EU referendum to stop them being taken out of the UK against their will? Right?0 -

Can I politely suggest you stop watching /reading MSM and maybe go out and meet people ... you might be surprised and find out people that want independence don't hate the English ... in fact here's a shocker ... you might actually find out that people wanting independence has nothing to do with the people of England at all
I know that may be hard for you to realise ... but hey give it a try ... or don't ... your choice0 -

Hey its not me that's suggesting people hate other people here lol ... but nice try ... wanting independence has nothing to do with hate
And if you havnt heard of people in Cornwall or Yorkshire wanting independence I recommend maybe stretching your info gathering to outside the MSM ... it's there and it's rife ...0 -

Now that's a cracker ... and if you even read and followed the truth behind these stories you would know the abuse came from Daisley and others firstly
But that doesn't suit your rhetoric ... you would rather point the fi gers and those that disagree with you ...0 -

Despite your condescension, in my work I travel plenty AND meet lots of people - mainly Scots.
But if you honestly think that Scots wanting independence has nothing to do with the "the people of England" it is yourself that needs to meet more people.
Because otherwise Scotland would be happy with it's lot, wouldn't it?
Why independence, then?0 -

Have a word with yourself.
