Why would PM May welcome the distraction of a Scottish indy ref during the Brexit period?
Do you think having multiple parallel referendums at the same time is a good thing?
What about having indy refs in Scotland; UK; France; Germany; and Hungary at the same time. Sure...why not. It'd be a right old catfight in the negotiations.
I think the PM has enough of a headache trying to figure out what form Brexit will take. Seems like an impossible task to try to appease both sides and have something beneficial that won't cause more division. Leavers appear to want controls on immigration and remainers to stay in the single market. Squaring these is not going to happen. So no, I don't imagine she wants another referendum but if Scotland feels the deal struck is leaving us out in the cold when we plainly voted otherwise then it's indy2 I'd imagine.
Scots have had to deal with plenty of elections & referendums. In less than 2 years we've voted 4 times. We're practically all voted out! However, this is a material change in our circumstances and as such we'll deal with it in the best way for Scotland as promised by our FM. We don't know yet what that will be until the terms of brexit become clear whenever that may be.....0 -

Why do you think we don't attract so many migrants? Job opportunities or something else?
How can I speak for migrants? I could guess, and I might be partly right and mostly wrong.
Turn it around. Suppose you are looking to be an economic migrant working in the EU.
Would you choose a wealthy place like Munich or Bonn, or one of the smaller towns in Greece? You pick the place which is most likely to deliver you security of good quality work, don't you, backed by great rental/transport etc.
Migrants aren't heading to the North of England in vast numbers either, so you're not unique in this respect.0 -
It's the weather ... the weather here is mince ... I don't blame people for not wanting to move here ... sheesh were looking forward to moving away.
There will be other reasons ofcourse like midges, and no doubt the drinking culture etc ... I do agree though we need to make the country more attractive for people to want to move to, during this holiday I heard a few Scottish accents but many more different ones, was great to hear and we ( hubby and I ) chatted to many people, they all loved Scotland for a holiday but none that I spoke to could see themselves moving here
Ah yes, the weather. Our favourite topic. Living here means you must learn to develop an optimistic outlook. There's always tomorrow.......:rotfl:
On the flip side we really do have the most spectacular landscape although it does look better when the sun shines on it.0 -

Well you did accuse the SNP of conveniently forgetting Scotland does not attract many migrants.
All I did was ask if you knew why.
What could they have done to make it more appealing?
Immaterial now I suppose as we may be closing the doors pretty soon. Not much incentive anymore.0 -

I've just spent nearly the last 3 weeks looking at it, I've been lucky enough in my life to be able to afford places like the West coast of USA, Thailand and The Gambia, and I always knew Scotland was beautiful ... I just didn't appreciate how stunningly beautiful it was... we're on the M9 coming home now and we're both depressed. Usually a few days before we come home were ready to leave ... not this time
Even Mr El has been shocked at how much he has loved his holiday, he has even suggested we tour more of Scotland, this I found surprising as he doesn't like the country that much ... well he doesn't like the rain and the midges and the prices0 -
I lived in Jersey for 2 years when I was younger. When I came home and saw the loch that had been on my doorstep all my life it was with a new found appreciation for how beautiful it is.
We are always saying we should travel north and see more. Sadly it's the weather that puts us off.0 -
Maybe this will give you a more varied view of what people who support independence think Tricky. There's also a fair few no supporters posting in the comments too

I think only two comments mention 'England' or 'English'. Don't know how to convince you that anti English sentiment isn't part of the general conversation, and it is something I would contest strongly.
Anyone got a link to the guy with the 'Scottish by choice' tshirt and the England flag?

Am not someone who does marches etc, but the pics from yesterday were pretty impressive. I was surprised there was such a large turnout to be honest. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Our weather was not too bad, some rainy days so we spent time playing chess or in a cafe drinking coffee and earing cakes ... but on the whole it was dry so we could get out and explore
We managed to cram in so much, Lochgilphead, Ardfern, glencoe, retail, Skye and all around the place, don't think here's been a road we havnt been down on that island, Harris and Lewis ... same as Skye ( every road) Ullapool Dingwall, urquhart, culloden etc , Aberfeldy and now hame
If we had taken the tent we would've given up in Glencoe, but we took the caravan so when the thunder and lightening happened the other week we sat and watched it out the skylight ... fascinating to watch the sky lit up like that
I have a few midge bites but no where near as many as I expected.0 -

It's a fact that Scotland attracted just 8,000 of the 266,000 economic migrants.
It's possible to improve these figures, but I don't see why EU migrants would suddenly flock to Scotland just because it's independent.
It would be easier to build on historic links and bring in more people from the subcontinent.0 -

Because it will come down to individual EU citizenship at the end, that and looking at Conservative govts for the forseeable future. If the Scottish Govt can't win a referendum concerning something on this magnitude, then they never will within the next 20/30 years and it will be time to accept it.
Don't see it Shakey.
In the event of a fresh indyref (now unlikely) Scots will have the age old conundrum that they've always had, antipathy toward Westminister vs the comfort blanket of the pooling and sharing of resources with 60 million other Brits.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
