    Alex Salmond has been cleared of sexual assaulting nine women while he was Scotland's first minister.

    A jury found the former SNP leader not guilty on 12 of the sexual assault charges facing him, while another was found not proven.


    There is now no chance of the Salmond case 'bringing down the SNP' as so many seemed to be hoping for.    


    Cleared of all charges.   And he resigned from the SNP anyway.

    Thought the SNP was in danger of self imploding anyway. Given differing views on the way forward. 
    Oil price and over supply could decimate the industry up North if it continues too long.

    Salmond not guilty all charges. 
    It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

    This evening, Salmond will walk the streets a free man. Cleared of all counts of fiddling.

    Salmond has however made marriage vows and has very clearly not honoured these.
    Politics aside, ask yourselves whether Salmond is the kind of person any female would want to be left in a room alone with?
    Your own daughter, perhaps?

    Weird the need to keep attacking him, but if it makes you feel better go for it. 
    There will be loads of "there's no smoke without fire" arguments being made.

    Not Proven means they didn't have sufficient evidence. Not Guilty. As he said now isn't the time for setting the story straight. But some of the charges were so flimsy imo.
