You’re right to flag up that the only constituent nation in our Union in fiscal surplus is England though.
London and the South East actually.
You'll notice your region is a drain on London and the SE also. That doesn't make me hate you though.
You're still very welcome to my handouts.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Cheers, I’m very grateful, although unlike some Scots I’m not trying to propagate the myth that I’m not being subsidised.
BTW how much do I get in per capita public spending though?
Is it at NI, Wales and Scotland levels?
I’m just asking for a friend.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

You mean there's an anti-Wales and anti-N.I. feeling in the SE also?
It's been prevalent in some threads IIRC with more than a few wanting to hand NI to Eire.
Don't tell me you've missed all that?0 -

And, as I said before, it exposes the Union as, well, not exactly a union.

As I have said before- the UK is like the Hotel California, you can check out any time you want but can never leave
That's British (Westminster) democracy....baldly going on...0 -

I think your average Catalunian would scoff at that particular narrative on Scotland's place in the Union.
I'm guessing the issue for Westminister is whether a single party polling less than 50% in an election is mandate enough for another referendum so soon after the last one.
To a Nat, the threshold only has to be the SNP winning an election, to a UK politician the wishes of the majority of Scots is probably paramount.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
