Scotland has worst drugs problem in Europe as death rate soars
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/07/16/scotland-has-worst-drugs-problem-europe-death-rate-soars/
Scotland’s drugs death rate is now higher than the USA and every other country in Europe, and three times the UK average
Ah, that "arc of prosperity"!
a large percentage of those who died - 792 - had also taken pills such as diazepam and etizolam....It was reported last month that these "street valiums" can be bought for less than the price of a chocolate bar, at just 30p a pill in central Glasgow
But can you get deep-fried diazepam?0 -

On the long road to our nationalist nirvana.......
But plenty of diazepam0 -
I liked the SNP chappie on the news last night giving it the "Westminster must do something to help" bit.
Who would we be asking to help if we were Independent I wonder?0 -
There is of course a context to the posting of the drug death figures here that won't be apparent to the "how dare you" brigade.
There is a minority of people in Scotland who think that despite our levels of drug use, physical health issues, and general levels of deprivation that an Independent Scotland would not only last the weekend, but would continue to support the vulnerable to the same level as the status quo despite these problems existing with a greater head to head spend than the rest of the uk.
The biggest contributor to someone succesfully recovering from a drug habit is personal motivation; they can then utilise the services available. Without that motivation you could spend every penny in the public purse on expanding services and the user will continue to find ways to use.
The biggest barrier to helping people recover from a drug habit is having a poor economy where services cannot be supported ; in this scenario even the motivated may fail. **
TLDR Drug figures are another reason to reject Independence.
** Disclaimer. After being involved with drug users for many decades these are opinions i appreciate other drugs workers may disagree with.0 -
He wants us to legalise consumption areas. I really do not think that is the solution, especially considering the figures for the rest of the UK.
Scotland has more than 200 deaths per million, the UK has about 75. If that includes Scotland (it says UK, so should) then there is a massive disparity between Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Maybe Sturgeon should start concentrating on her people rather than her personal desire for independence. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
