have to admit i think if Nicola did that it would be a mistake, not every Indy supporter wants to be in the EU or have the Indy question tied to the EU
After any indy vote it'll be up to separate parties what they want to offer -full membership/EFTA etc. The point is that the choice is there. Something that's been missing and rammed home to Scots time and time again over the last few years. No choice in the matter when we're run from Westminster.
People get far too caught up in what individual political parties will or won't do in a future indy Scotland imo. No one actually knows. Hell, we don't even know what next week will look like at Westminster. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Why do you think there is so much trouble around leaving the eu. Ironically enough, if you just flicked the switch and rescinded that treaty if would also mean that we were out of the eu, so not such a bad thing in that, but every other law that has been passed in the last 300 years would cease to exist.
You can try to rescind the treaty, but I can't see it being supported internationally.
The Treaty of Union is a voluntary political union ( the Union of the Crowns having preceded it ). The Scottish Parliament of the time took Scotland into it. Should the Scottish electorate vote to leave it. - am afraid what does happen overnight is that Westminster loses it's political authority over the Scottish electorate - and the Scottish Parliament will take us back out of it.
Untangling the various legalities comes afterwards. There's no reason why anyone would refuse to recognise Scotland leaving the UK via free and fair democratic means. Why wouldn't they ? I'd love to hear your take.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

IF you had a referendum which YOU paid for and was in favour of leaving the union I would have no problem with it whatsoever.
But you do not rescind the treaty, you change it, same way as when Ireland joined the union.
I have never had any problem with Scotland leaving the union, although I do know quite a few Scots that live near me, am close friends with a few, and they say they would never vote to leave the union, and said they would never ever want Scottish/Scots passport.
I would not want Scotland using the £ though, especially if they still wanted to use of BofE as the lender of last resort.
And you would have to take your share of the deficit, and financial support would be stopped as soon as you left the union. If you wanted help you would have to go cap in hand to your mates in the eu.
It would be interesting to see the lengths your dear leader would go to to look as if you could fund yourselves without problems, have to wonder how long it would be before charges were in place for prescriptions and for university places etc. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

I wonder how Scotland would cope with the loss of rUK?
Oh wait, it will never happen.0 -
