They were so badly "thrashed" that they won the Scottish part of the GE by a landslide that all the other parties would have given their right arms for.
In fact, if that's them "thrashed", what's the best way to describe the Tories, Labour and Lib Dem's Scottish GE performance? :whistle:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Well I don't remember ever mocking a poster for wherever in Britain they're living.

Imagine she called for an indy ref then Article 50 was revoked ? Or the current Govt fell ? Nothing is imploding, everyone is just getting sick fed up of the PM and the Tories kicking the Brexit can down the road. We still don't know what Brexit is going to look like with only a few weeks to go. Only when we ( the UK public ) do can the SNP make any sort of move.
I wouldn't be surprised if various SNP and Yes groups gave been deliberately muddying waters with confusing messages to the media. Because the one thing that IS for sure 100%.. is that if Nicola loses her nerve after being voted in on the mandate she stood on... then she loses all her core voters. She and the SNP well know it too. If she doesn't call some sort of vote or give Scotland some sort of say over Brexit once things are clear. Then the SNP can wave bye bye to most of their voters for the next decade or more ( see Lib Dems/tuition fees ).
Brexit clarity for everyone then she and the SNP make their moves. But not before. Anything else is wishful thinking, it's not like the SNP are going to suddenly stop taking any opportunity they get to try for independence is it ? Brexit is a huge opportunity and they'll be very, very careful not to jump the gun early ( like the ERG did trying to topple May ).
..AND exteremely careful to keep any plans for after 29 March closely guarded. For example, while we all love MP's like Angus McNeil for being as gung ho as they come, he's got a big mouth. Imagine what the likes of the Mail, Express, the Record,Sky News etc would do if someone leaked detailed SNP plans now.
Console yourself with false ideas of the SNP losing it's nerve if you wish. But IMO you're reading things very wrongly given that the SNP have to keep their core voters happy. Making core SNP voters happy doesn't mean sitting back and letting Teresa May do what she likes. It means giving Scotland a vote once the terms of this never-ending Brexit are clear. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Angus Macneil's big mouth is not his only claim to fame

Definitely mixed messages from the SNP. Andrew Wilson ( Growth Commission author ) is in the National today advocating a kind of 'soft independence'. While Joanna Cherry, who last week was taking pelters for talking about a wait and see approach has gone a bit gung ho today too..Joanna Cherry QC 12h12 hours ago
As an MP on the #Brexit Select commitee I’ve watched this disaster proceed in the face of all the evidence. I’m also aware that many of #EU27 are very sympathetic to #independence for Scotland & once UK is 3rd state that can translate to action #indyref2
ps I'm far too much of a lady to ever mention Angus McNeils past shenanigans in polite conversation. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

I think it's co-ordinated to confuse and planted in various different media outlets. Because imho I don't think Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP really have the option NOT to call a Scottish vote now. So it'll happen when Brexit does.

That’s an interesting spin on Sturgeons dilemma re. the next indyref.
The SNP are clearly caught between hardcore supporters wanting one now, if not before and a Scotland that’s increasingly going cold on independence generally and the SNP and it’s ongoing machinations specifically.
