  • The SNP are biding their time

It will come to roost over the next month or so

The 'meaningful vote' will fail, there will be a no confidence vote in the Conservative government at Westminster and we will see

If they lose the confidence vote the SNP will go in to the election for Westminster with the mandate along the lines of demanding an independence vote if more than half the Scottish MP's elected are SNP.

If it is a hung parliament the SNP will have JC over a barrel, if the conservatives win then there will be a clear mandate for indyref2 that will be hard for Westminster to ignore

If they do ignore it the indy support will go up, if they give in then it's game on.

    All or nothing
    baldly going on...

    All or nothing

Precisely why nothing will happen. Too bigger a risk with a huge loss of face potentially.

The other thing that Nicola Sturgeon could do is put Indyref2 in the Scottish Parliamentary manifesto - that way Westiminster could not refuse if the SNP got another majority

    That's 2021. ;)
  • She could trigger another election by resigning though!

We wish. Bring it on! Wee Nippy SNP's record on Health, Education, Police and Transport is atrocious.

She asked to be judged on Education, allow us do so!

    Transport fail example:-

The Rail line between Glasgow and Ayrshire will not be fully open on any one weekend in January. Not one!

People from Wemyss Bay, Largs, Ardrossan and Saltcoats if they want to travel to Glasgow on the weekend will have to change trains at Kilwinning, get off the second train at Paisley and then board a bus to Glasgow...and reverse that procedure to get home...ludicrous!
  • But she gets away with it!

She fails in Education but uses Free Tuition because The SNP will guarantee that (even though universities are cutting places to Scottish Students) and that wins her votes!

The trains are bad -but she deflects any criticism by sayng that things are worse in England!

The Scottish Government has so much power but all they seem to want is Separation from the rest of the UK!
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Ian Blackford SNP leader at Westminster, a former banker shows his ignorance:-

Unsurprisingly the SNP has declined to comment.

A frenzy of desperate uninformed nonsense in the two posts above. If you're going to the effort of posting on a thread, at the very least try not to base it on figures from 4 years ago.. or in the case of the post immediately above.. plainly just someone who's a bit bored and can't think of anything better to do.

Scotland out of Single Market = Sturgeon will call a vote. Has been that way since 2016, the day after the Brexit vote. Not long now till there's no road left for Mrs May to kick the can down. Then Nicola Sturgeon and everyone else desperate to get out of this Tory Brexit crap can finally make a move.

There's still a chance Brexit will be revoked, so it's still a waiting game for now.

    Er what?

You stated the support is 45%
    QED the opposition is 55%

What is misleading or incorrect about that?

In fact, a poll for the Scotsman in November put remain at 60%! What Scotland Thinks agregator (source) shows 45% for yes 5th December is the high point since 11th March (46%) as Yes has been hovering around 40-41% for the last 18 months (as low as 32% in February). Sturgeon won't risk it as the "once in a generation" re-run being lost again will kill the vote for a lifetime.

On the rest of your points:

Fact: the Electoral Commission banned the question Salmond proposed because it was biased
    Source

Fact: Alex Salmond changed the law to allow 16/17 year olds to vote in the referendum and paid for them all to be registered
    Source

What else do you want to discuss?

The lie that Scotland would keep the pound if they voted leave?
-- UK Government ruled that out

The lie that Scotland would "transition" into the EU?
    -- EU ruled that out

The lie that Scotland would remain in NATO
    -- NATO ruled that out

Or the tricks they used like holding it in 2014, deliberately chosen as it was the year of:
    - the 700th anniversary of Bannockburn (on which they spent £650k)
    - the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow
    - the Ryder cup in Gleneagles
    - the second "year of homecoming" festival?

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
