Scotland continues to be a highly subsidised region of the UK.
I don't see another referendum anytime soon.

I think GERS has now outlived it's usefulness, especially as a stick to beat the SNP/indy voters with. It simply doesn't generate the traction or debate it used to. Perhaps because 1) People like me are simply shrugging shoulders at rabid frothers still spouting exactly the same spiel as they were 4 years ago. Boring.
And more importantly. On the day Dominic Rab is about to announce the first of many 'No Deal' Brexit scenarios, and NHS bosses in Scotland are talking about stockpiling medicines like insulin etc. Perhaps people are a bit more worried and engaged about that ? In the context of Brexit, I'm afraid the yearly GERS figures are a totally busted flush. ( see below ).
No deal Brexit or Scotland out of single market = Scotland goes to the polls on independence. Either via a referendum or a Scottish GE.
Should Boris Johnson challenge for the Tory leadership and win, and a UK GE ensue then the SNP will 100% have independence/EFTA membership front and foremost in their manifesto. They've learnt lessons well from 2016. Either way, Johnson or Scotland out of Single Market means Scotland going a voting. You heard it here first.
Ps all bets off if the UK stays in Single Market. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

So the thing that shows Scotland runs a budget deficit three times that of the rUK has become “boring”.
The conundrum remains for most Scots in any future referendum, does the extra £1500 per capita annual spend in Scotland trump an independent Scotland.
If it were me, and Brexit turns out to an unmitigated disaster I’d be wanting the continuing subsidy from England and the thought of compounding the perceived error of Brexit by distancing Scotland from its biggest market would be the last thing on my mind.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Also, and am genuinely interested here. But why do you think strongly pointing out just how s**t Westminster is at running the majority of Scotland's economy.... is actually a fantastic and persuasive reason for Westminster continuing to do so ? :rotfl:
Waken up and smell the coffee. Brexit consequences and Scotland out of Single Market = Scotland going to the polls.
ps Johnson is limbering up for a leadership challenge if May backtracks on Brexit. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
