Now whinging that they were not consulted on internal MOD employment / HR matters.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-44877483
"It is disappointing that, despite making an offer to discuss the differential taxation of military personnel, the Scottish government has not been consulted on the proposal announced by the MoD."
Nothing to do with the Scottish Government, it does not affect their tax take, it is an internal employment matter. The MOD, out of its own budget, is compensating its employees for an extra cost of being based in a certain location just as they do elsewhere.

wonder if they are compensating them enough money a week to buy a pint of lager,

and I wonder how many will be compensated compared to how many work for MOD

poor wee scones paying extra tax just so that others can get health care treatment ... don't the people know they should be compensating these people's kids more for their private education instead of making them pay more tax like every other worker in Scotland earning that amount ...

They won't be compensating very much or very many personnel, only those serving and earning over 30k. This BBC story is 99% fact free and misleading. Usual distraction type dross being trotted out when the Tories are going into meltdown.

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

More tax is paid from £26100 in 2018-19 and at £80K the difference is £1124.

80k lol.. they're no doubt starving on the streets. Plus anyone living or 'stationed' in Scotland is entitled to free prescriptions, tuition etc etc which more than offsets the tiny amounts above.

The BBC are at it. The Tories are in trouble and they need a good distraction story. Shame this one was debunked about 3 minutes after it first appeared. They'd do far better concentrating on Scottish Tories buying elections up here. Maybe giving Ruth Davidson the same sort of door stepping treatment Nicola Sturgeon/SNP MP's//MSP's are routinely treated to for even the most minor of things ?. But it'll never happen.
A fifth of all declared donations to the Scottish Conservatives in the run-up to 2017's snap general election came from a trust accused of funnelling "dark money" into the party

Only relevant if you need to take advantage of them. The lower paid servicemen who receive slightly more are not the problem, it is the more experienced higher paid ones that will object and hand in their notice so something needed to be done. How would you react to being told your job location is moving and by the way you will also get a 2% cut in your take home pay ? The point is though that the SG are complaining and making a big deal about not being consulted on something that has nothing whatsoever to do with them, how the MOD rewards its employees is purely an internal HR matter. Any governmental involvement is down to the UK government alone, defence is not a devolved matter.

The noticable absence of any credible alternatives and the ongoing saga of games played for self rather than national interest is going to come to roost. Far too much focus on now. Which is overlooking the challenges down the road which already exist today.

is it a 2% pay cut in your take home pay though ? or is it a 2% pay cut after you earn a certain amount ? mounting to not a lot each week, and are the MOD taking the money back from those that pay less tax on Scotland compared to elsewhere ? or is it just those few that earn the more money so pay the extra tax ? but at least helping the health service whilst having the opportunity to get your child privately educated at subsidised amounts ?

I could never afford private education for my child, if I couldve had my child's private education subsidised I would've been happy to pay 2% tax extra after earning a certain amount

People shouldn't have to send their children to private schools - although lots of people do! There does need to be good schools for all children. Maybe more money should be spent on schools and less money on giving free tuition.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
