It's all up in the air
Did you see the link to Bloomberg site where Jim Rodgers mention the effect on Sterling if Scotland were to leave the UK
Tie this in with the McCrone report and you can see what Scots were not told.baldly going on...0 -
It is all up in the air - either way it is going to be a hard few years. Both for Scotland and for the RUK.
As for the Mcrone Report - that was quite a few years ago Scotland will not get that money back!
Independence is now about do we want austerity as part of the uk or as an independent country?Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

'Good luck selling that' I've been told here. Well am afraid Brexit isn't selling well either and at least with independence Scots voters at least have a measure of control and a say in the matter. Something which hasn't happened so far regarding any facet of Brexit negotiations. Unionist commentators haven't woken up that there is no safe and secure UK economy now with Brexit imminent.
Oh dear.
You still don’t realise that Scotland has escaped the worst excesses of Tory austerity and it’s down to Scotland’s highly favourable terms of its membership of the Union. Most Scots are not blind to that fact even you are. Even if the U.K. economy does tank post Brexit, Scotland will escape the worst of it just like it did post the 2008 crash simply because the rest of the U.K. will pick up the tab. Scots will not give up that rather useful firewall I’m sure.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

That's actually quite true. One of the effects of austerity is that it has reversed the Barnett squeeze. Oddly enough, it's when and if austerity ends that the squeeze will return.0 -

Don't disagree that massive change is on it's way. Though suspect that our views are totally different reasons. Mine are globally related. Rather than UK specific. Preaching to the converted is all very well. Convincing non believers requires action not words. Divorcing from the UK will make Brexit look like a childrens tea party.0 -

Any signs yet if the higher personal taxes in Scotland are getting anywhere near closing the deficit in Scotland finances?
Clever move that IMO by the SNP, could be a game changer if they can pull it off.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Never in a month of Sundays will we vote for Independence...we are too cannae to ever do that. When it's a second no vote wee nippy should hand in her notice as should all SNP MSP's. Somehow I don't think that will happen!0

The report out on Friday specifically states that there will be no austerity under this plan they put out for discussion, you must be thinking of the scenario we are currently in or the one where we stat in the UK
And everybody is going to acept that as gospel. Carney etc are incapable of forecasting interest rates. Who has the ability to forecast the performance of an entire economy based on assumptions. The UK electorate might have someting to say as well.0
