    More pointless waffle?
You want to prove it isn't, show us this "number of [SNP] policies which are now being adopted by the unionist parties"?

    It's all over the news.
Labour are adopting the tuition fee stance SNP have.
Scottish Conservatives are adopting the free prescriptions.
Their all moving to the SNP formula

You are trying to make it sound that that is very easy to do eg like the flick of a switch!

Not at all, I've always said there will be a short to middle hit / impact to the electorate, but a firm belief we'll be better off in the long term

  • Do I need to bring out the cake chart again? Why, ye didnae unnerstan it the first time roond.
Once again, a General Election is not a binary question on Independence. But the SNP are in Scotland.

In fact to try and make it even more clear

An SNP vote is a binary question on Independence

    Fixed that for ye. ;)
Unless ye can prove that the SNP stand for anything other than Scottish independence?
Me & I suspect others here can aye wait until ye find some proof.
Though ah ken we'll aye be waitin' a while as it disnae exist.

They are not economic policies, more like vote purchasing policies.

We should be able to see, tax levels, corporate and individual. Trade plans and strategies, diversification, media and technology policies, etc... for an independent Scotland - not now.

Belief. Like faith, like a religion, right?
  • And waiting for options on currency too.
Still, we have been waiting for years so nothing new there.

Can you deny that the article is based on current circumstances and does not consider the opportunity to diversify and change the economy?

Then the SNP are going to succeed where no other Government has since WW2. The challenge is on a global scale not just a national one.

Labour "adopted" Jeremy Corbyn too; 'nuff said.

As for Conservatives adopting free prescriptions, this is another example of politicians listening to what the electorate want.
"Ruth Davidson said she recognised the popular support of the policy".

Personally I wish more politicians would listen to their voters.
    Nicola Sturgeon for example. ;)
Does Nicola Sturgeon actually want to listen to Scots or just patronise them?

NICOLA STURGEON has been accused of only listening to the democracy when it suits her as she managed to secure a narrow vote in favour of a second independence vote.

    Very fitting IMHO.

Well, it can't be the Euro.
    Certainly not before they join.
They would have to pay the rUK to use the GB£.

So ........... what are the other options?
I suppose it was an unfair question for ISTL, he won't have been briefed on how to actually discuss the currency.

On the Sheckle / Groat or something. I can't see anything keeping it's value, even against the pound, for long, it would be a matter of currency reserves I suppose. A currency collapse would be catostropic for individual Scots if they were to change pounds into the new currency. I supposed they would be forced to swap one for the other at a pre-arranged rate. Can't see the way through that one.

A side story is relevant here.

I spent quite some time visiting Russia in the early 1990s. I used to spend about 4 days there per visit. At first we took roubles, exchanged at home, but soon found that sonetimes the exchange rate changed so much during that time that the less roubles we kept at one time the better. We used to get more roubles during those 4 days to take advantage of the better exchange rate and avoid loosing money. In fact Dollars were safer and you could pay for a meal in Dollars and avoid roubles. In the end we stopped taking any roubles. We must used Dollars, it was what Russians wanted.

The Russian currency was in freefall for a while and people in Russia were really suffering. On the streets I saw queues of Russians selling shoes, domestic stuff, in fact anything to get the extra cash for that day. Judging by their clothes they were what we might call middle class. It was all very sad.

I suspect that could well be the fate of Scots were a Scottish currency used, a massive loss of the personal wealth of individuals.

I suspect the only real choice would be to cross fingers and keep using the pound until the notes wore out. But I suspect there would be much the same result as for Sheckles.

It seems obvious to me what the SNP plan would. Essentially it would be to stay in the UK for as long as possible (*), hoarding the so-called subsidy until such time as the EU can be joined and "Poor Country Status" (or whatever) is achieved with a nice new subsidy from the EU. I can't see the English Tax payer being happy with that plan which is the reason I've always said that another referendum agreement should have a leave-in-18 months condition. Apologies to you for that. In a post Yes vote, nothing would be the same; each for their own selfish ends.

(") Cue for a few slogans there all about the sooner we leave the better, we would have magic powers, project fear again and so on. But the question of currency will still be unanswered
