All of them. As long as they accept Scotland's vote as legal, fair and democratic. Which it will be. May will be trying vainly to hold on to an entire country who doesn't wish to be held on to anymore. Westminster hasn't really managed that very well in the past. It won't fare any better with Scotland than it did with Ireland and a host of other countries who've left previously

Westminster said they couldn't leave either. Yet they all did. *smirks*

You'll have a chance to see how that might turn out if the referendum in Catalonia on the 17th September goes for independence. The parallels are almost exact.

She's copying Davidson's campaign in 2016 almost exactly. Scots have seen all this before. No policies, relentless meaningless soundbites, making all about the person. It works to an extent but definitely not when they have to go beyond meaningless soundbites. It gets old, fast.

    Clearly, this is untrue.

The Tories are the ruling party of the UK, so of course they have current policy in all areas.

You might not like them, but they are still policies.

Only May has shown any sort of backbone when it comes to dealing with the EU, and it's an impression which is getting through.

On breakfast BBC TV there were 7 remainers. All of them wanted Brexit to go ahead, reflecting a pragmatic mood. All of them used the word "strong" to describe May.

There are also the hidden policies. May is the only politician aiming to hoover up the UKIP votes. Sturgeon doesn't care about the Scottish voters who chose Leave, by comparison.

Scotland after a Yes vote, would just ignore Westminster thereafter bar negotiations to leave ( like Brexit ). There would be no real Scottish representation there anymore and any policies, they wouldn't implement if they didn't agree with them. (pretty much most Tory ones ). You can flip the bird to anyone you like, but you'll just be laughed at most likely. While the grown ups get on with actual democracy and you can get on with trade suicide.

Calm down Shakey, you're frothing at the computer.

No need for me to repeat the obstacles to your "cunning plan", so keep on - - you seem to have a wonderful strategy to persuade people in Scotland that the SNP are what they seem to be.

No outside party can interfere legally in the constitution of the UK. The EU may be having a damn good go, and they may have succeeded in the past as they were not technically an outside party, after we leave then it will be untouchable.

If Scotland have a legal vote, under the rules of the British constitution, and then vote to leave, then fair enough. If it is not legal then you can whinge all you want but I cant see many outside powers accepting you as an independent country.

Ireland left under a treaty, and then Northern Ireland came toddling back.

What I want if you do get a new referendum is an absolute declaration that it will be the last one for at least 100 years whatever the outcome, and that you cannot come back with your tail between your legs within that time if you vote for independence. And you will not be taking our currency with you. If you vote for independence then that is it, you have to find your own currency and everything else that goes with independence.

I thought TM called the snap election to have a mandate to progress with her policies and not be held to David Cameron's manifesto.

We already have had indications that the manifesto will change such as removing the triple lock protection, but we are yet to see what her policies and manifesto is.

Its quite indicative that the party that should have been ahead of the game with regards releasing a manifesto is once again procrastinating.

I wonder if its because they want to limit the damage that it may cause her GE results.

At present, shes standing on a slogan, not on policy or a manifesto.

the Scottish electorate and the MP's will determine the course going forward.

With regards to the currency, whether we opt to have our own currency or peg it to another such as the Denmark Krone, the Hong Kong Dollar, the UAE Dirham or indeed the GB pound or alternatively adopt another currency such as the Euro.

  • Have you anything to say on the topic/subject, or are you just here counting people's posts on a single thread a tad obsessively ? Jock posts in lots of threads here, especially and sometimes a LOT in the Brexit thread.

ISTL obviously has you all frothing with his calm and measured posts here. :T:T:T You are free to scroll past this thread any time you like without comment. In fact that might be preferable to the dross quoted above from someone I assume is a grown adult.
    :rotfl:

Oh aye, it's really very obvious just who is "frothing at the mouth".
Like you not having anything useful to say regarding the topic in the post included above.
    Hypocrite.

Typical SNP behaviour as highlighted in post 10538 by .string, as anyone in Scotland knows because these tactics are evident from all the SNP does. From behaviour in parliament to, well, behaviour in threads like this from SNP supporters.

If you want obsession Shakey, why are you ignorant of the sheer volume of generally useless and/or antagonistic posts by others like ISTL?
I don't care where Jock posts, or ISTL for that matter.
    It's the sheer unnecessary volume.
    That is obsessive.
The fact that others post elsewhere shows diversity and a wider range of interests and understanding than the single-minded obsession so evident by many in this thread, don't you think?
The number in this thread are a result of ISTL trying (desperately, it seems) to drown out debate with multiple posts when let's be honest there's no need for it.
But then you have many times been accused of the same tactics by others in this thread, haven't you?
Small wonder then that you would voice support for a fellow pro-SNP antagonist.
More & more Scots like me are wising up to your nasty tactics.
    ;)

    Moving on then ..........................

It sounds like Labour have suspended the nine councillors who formed a coalition with the tories in Aberdeen to prevent SNP control.
SCOTTISH Labour have suspended all nine of their councillors in Aberdeen after the group disobeyed an order to reject a coalition with the Tories.
In a statement, Kezia Dugdale’s spokesman said the unprecedented move means there are “currently no councillors in office in Aberdeen representing the Labour Party”.
Earlier in the week the group had negotiated a deal with the 11 Tories and two independents, which would have allowed them to stop the SNP’s 19 councillors establishing a minority administration to run the city council.
    http://www.thenational.scot/news/15292496.Kezia_Dugdale_suspends_Labour_s_nine_Aberdeen_city_councillors_over_coalition_deal_with_the_Tories/
Sarah Duncan, one of the suspended councillors, told The National the decision wasn’t taken lightly.
“We thought very, very carefully about it and we did it because we think it’s the best thing for Aberdeen,” she said.
“We still regard ourselves as Scottish Labour people, but, unfort- unately, we disagreed with a decision taken by the SEC and we felt we had no option but to do the deal with the Tories because it gives us the best chance to implement anti-austerity policies in Aberdeen.”

But it seems it's okay for Labour to form a coalition with the SNP in Fife:
In a political first for Fife, the leaders of the region’s two main parties met face-to-face today to hammer out a deal that has resulted in both groups taking on agreed roles in order to form a new administration.

    That's a big "if".
So far the vast majority of evidence says independence won't happen.
    Which makes your post irrelevant.

They're not actually. Catalonia is going to hold a referendum which is illegal under the Spanish constitution. As I've already indicated to you several times, Sturgeon won't do anything like that.

Plus there are lots of other constitutional differences.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

It is an If, it may be a big If, but it is a distinct possibility, thus warrants discussion and debate
    Which makes your post irrelevant.

I would disagree, the clue is in the title of this board.
Its a debate board to discuss salient points and debate differing points of view, thus it is extremely relevant.

Only posts which bear no attempt to discuss the topic at hand is irrelevant ;)
