Don't have the time today to go into this, but I understand the reference is to the attainment gap widening.
The figures behind show an improvement in both low and high income areas but that the high income areas improved more.
There is the backdrop of Education cuts as a direct result of Westminster authority and the criticism that the SNP could raise taxes elsewhere to counter the Westminster cuts.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

Education is devolved.
You get enough money from Westminster to give free prescriptions and free university education, or have you forgotten that kids have to go through schools to actually get to university. Maybe you are trying to cut down the number going to university in order to save money?
Either way, maybe you should stop concentrating on headline policies and look after your people. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

There's a BBC hard talk interview with an Irish minister, where he tries to defend their position on the Apple issue.
You will probably remember the EU demand for a 13 billion bill to be presented to Apple.

Have a watch. It's hard to avoid the conclusion that the mood is very much moving against corporate tax gaming.
That isn't to say iScotland could not use some corporate tax adjustment, but perhaps nothing extreme whilst being "at the heart of Europe".0 -

Sounds like another deflection.
How about it is a direct result result of SNP policies. Curriculum for Excellence, now that is a joke.
If you have any children going through the primary school system it is like a secret society the only feedback you get is your little treasure is doing just fine when in fact the reality can be very different.
We discovered quite by accident that our daughter her a reading age significantly lower than she was meant to have and for two years she went to extra reading outwith the school to get her up to speed.0 -

Leaving that aside the Referendum vote which gained the Scottish Par!iament approval did so only with the support of the Green Party who went against their manifesto and pledges at the time. They had no mandate, quite the reverse, and thus there is no Electoral mandate for the Parliamentary "Decision" whatever gloss the SNP put on their own claims.
As far as I know it is correct to say that the Greens did not have a mandate and this unpicks the claim that the Scottish Parliament decision was mandated by the Scottish voters.
If I am wrong about the Greens, explain why.
I know you will not agree with me Shakey, but I would like to know the SNP line on this.Union, not Disunion

Don't hold your breath. Shakey and other Indy supporters on here never answer inconvenient questions but merely engage in obfuscation and waffle.
You would think from some of the posts above that education in Scotland is world class and would be even better but for Westminster, totally disregarding the fact that it is a devolved matter. The SNP have presided over this for the last ten years but Nicola has only just woken up to it since the GE was called.0 -

No it's not.The European commission will redouble its crackdown on multinational tax avoidance next week with the relaunch of proposals to create an overarching corporation tax regime across all member states.

The overriding thought watching that was of a national politician trying to kid himself and others that his country's power wasn't slowly being abrogated toward that supranational entity otherwise known as the EU.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Sturgeon's job must be very difficult, trying to follow only those policies which are amenable to IndySpin.
Sturgeon: 50p income tax rate 'under review'
The article says it all really. Sitting on the fence as long as possible seems to be the current policy. When she comes down you can be sure it will be the one opposite to the Tory Policy whatever that may be so she will probably stay on the fence until the Tory Manifesto is published.Union, not Disunion
