Fed my lot broccoli cheese soup made with broccoli that was limp and going golden. And biscuits (I'm from the US so not the same as your biscuits) and hamburger gravy. They were full and happy.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Can't sleep at all, so been looking at recipes to use up stuff. Little ones love puddings and things, I've found this:

    https://www.minimins.com/threads/syn-free-sw-angel-delight.216462/

Which is like an angel delight equivalent! Going to try my 2 on this for pudding, as I have lots of jelly and some yogurt that had a use by of yesterday!

Feel like I should get up and do something productive, but even though I'm awake, I'm so tired! Will just look for more recipes I think.

MilA and butterfly, they sound like lovely recipes, I do love risotto. I'll definitely make one soon.

The jelly and yoghourt recipe reminds of one Mum made for us as kids, jelly made up as on packet and tin of evaporated milk whisked together, and left to set, more like a mousse than a jelly. Was lovely.
Wish I could find a recipe for home made butterscotch Angel delight, as I can't get it here, and it's wonderful. Must stick it on my list of things to bring back home with me, next time I'm back in the UK!

Love this thread. My work dried up at the end of last year and 3 months on, I still haven't found anything else. We are fortunate that my wages aren't needed for the general bills, but they did pay for the 'extras' such as birthday presents and DD's dancing/drama lessons and I need to make cuts so we can keep on affording them.

Mine too have gone off pasta bake. Annoying as that dish was a staple when I worked and kids had to let themselves in. I had one jar left, so I took the advice on here and served the sauce separately with sausage added to the pasta and a chunk of garlic bread. It only had a small amount of success as DD did eat some of the sauce, but not all announcing she 'isn't all that keen on sauces' Not sure where that has come from as she's not a toddler, she's a week off becoming a teenager and it certainly doesn't apply to ketchup!

I'll try the last 1/2 of the jar on DS later and then at least it will be gone.

I've made the yoghurt/jelly pudding before when doing SW. Just catch the time to mix at the right point and give a good stir. It turns out very mousse like.

    Hi ladies and gents,

I'd love to join you if I may? I too am a food hoarder - my cupboards, fridge and freezer are all groaning under the weight of my obsession! I have set myself a ten pound a week budget for April hoping I can get a big bill paid off with the money I save from my uneccesary spending. I am going to go through my kitchen today and find out what I have in there! I also follow sw. For those of you wondering what to do with Quinoa I will post a syn free HEx free porridge recipe which is gorgeous when I can get on my laptop and also if you pintrest Quinoa salad there are some amazing recipes x

    Hi spendless!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your job. My job is the same, part time, pays for extras, but OH's job hanging in the balance, mine might be all we've got, and it definitely wouldn't pay all of the bills and mortgage!!! Hence the saving money now!

    I've just made this recipe

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/iced_fingers_34133 And it's now proving in the sun! I'm going to try and make them into little bunnies but we shall see!

Thanks missymoo. That has just reminded me I need to get yeast, I have bread flour in (leftover from when DS was taking cookery) and this is a 2 birds with one stone hit, create food from store cupboard and at the same time teach DD the correct method to bake bread! This isn't just for culinary purposes! In her drama schools next production she is the Baker in 'Into The Woods' and recently she got called on last minute to perform at a festival as that character, she sang and acted fine but whatever actions she was doing, it wasn't a loaf of bread she was creating. When I asked her to describe afterwards, she said she was 'mixing (fine) cracking an egg into it (!?), kneading, rolling it out, getting some pastry cutters and cutting the loaf out (??!!) and then putting it in the oven. She seemed to be making part bread, part biscuit, part cake! :rotfl:

Yes, that level of detail is needed if your heart is set on getting into a drama school even if she never bakes bread again. :D
